Nope, it was some undercooked (basically raw) liver...

But still I’m super cautious now. Food poisoning is no joke

sounds gross. .. the meat I have is like kebab skewer but fully cooked ground beef with parsley and few other spices. put it in the fridge now but it was out in the microwave overnight so must have been sitting out for 12-14 hours before I put it in the fridge

Yup. The bacteria produces toxins that won't go away even when heated. Personally I would't risk anything for a $3 dollar meal than again I'm not in Zimbabwe

Yeah, it's fine.

I accidentally leave **** out on the stove all the time and still eat it the next day. I've never gotten sick. Same with pizza.

Don't care what anyone says ITT about their anecdotes being fine eating 2-3 day left out food. You are at a risk, period. Especially if it was heated/cooked and left out. Cooling down in open air is way worse than if you fridged it and then took it out.

Bacteria grow most rapidly in the range of temperatures between 40 °F and 140 °F, doubling in number in as little as 20 minutes. This range of temperatures is often called the "Danger Zone." Never leave food out of refrigeration over 2 hours.

Cliffs:
-Throw it out if it was out for more than a few hours
-Better than waking up at 3am ****ting blood and going to the ER

You in health safety dcbone30? lol love it!

THIS. OP it is absolutely not fine. The problem is, some bacteria is heat resistant meaning heat won’t kill it even if you super microwave it again. Extended time in room temperature means the bacteria was growing in it over night and might be at maximum capacity. Depending on how many bacterias multiplied = if you’ll get sick or not.

And this is coming from my health inspector gf who lectures me ALL the time about eating my breakfast tacos / burritos that I leave on my desk and eat at lunch bc I'm too busy in the morning to eat it.

Personally it depends on how badly I want to eat and take a risk.. is it worth the diarrhea? Nothing probably is. But overnight is way longer and rice grows bacteria fast. It's the perfect moist (ew hate that word) environment. If it's something super greasy or extremely sweet or sour then I'm told that bacteria favors it less.

ill nuke it in the microwave when I reheat it and see if it gets me sick. the little amount I ate this morning didn't do anything to me yet so hopefully it'll be ok.

probably fine. Day old rice (kept in a rice cooker or stored in the fridge) is great the next day for fried rice.

Yes it is fine, stop being so OCD about it. It's not as if OP left it out on the counter for 2 days.

Leaving food out too long at room temperature can cause bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella Enteritidis, Escherichia coli O157:H7, and Campylobacter) to grow to dangerous levels that can cause illness.

e coli infection usually begin3 or 4 daysafter exposure to the bacteria.

People withinvasive listeriosisusually report symptoms starting1 to 4 weeks after eatingfood contaminated with Listeria; some people have reported symptoms starting as late as 70 days after exposure or as early as the same day of exposure.

Staph food poisoningis characterized by a sudden start of nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. Most people also have diarrhea. Symptoms usually develop within30 minutes to 8 hours aftereating or drinking an item containing Staph toxin

Most persons infected withSalmonellabacteria develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps12 to 72 hours afterinfection. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days

People withCampylobacterinfection usually have diarrhea (often bloody), fever, and stomach cramps. Nausea and vomiting may accompany the diarrhea. Thesesymptoms usually start 2 to 5 daysafter the person ingests Campylobacter and last about one week.
Just not worth it to me for a couple dollars worth of food

How cold is it in your house? Ours gets down to 60 degrees at night, so if something is left out, it's fine the next day.

But if it's hot in your house, probably not a good idea to leave it out...

2-3 hours? So at every potluck/party with food out I should set my timer the moment the food comes out and then at the 2 hour mark I should go and throw all the food out to save people? Common sense... not even once.

TBH it's not that big of a deal.

Generally speaking if it passes the look and smell test you should be OK.

That's if it was only left out overnight, not exceedingly.

I'm more worried about meat/animal products than other stuff.

Also side note: I believe you're supposed to cool things down to room temperature before refrigerating to avoid condensation forming in the container.
