Why did it take 2 years for them to message you?.

UK seems to be miles ahead in terms of tax.

Resend that invoice and tell em there is no need to be upset
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Dude I have no idea, I’m a little rattled. I’m getting a pretty nice commission / bonus on the 30th, and now a big chunk of it is going straight to the IRS due to this bill (ded fkn Srs)

I'm going to do a little googling and see if there's ANYWAY I can somehow get this reduced a little bit? Probably wishful thinking, but I know that private collections agencies always are willing to take pennies on the dollar. Even if I could shave like 1k off this I'd be happy, but obv prob not happening

Death & taxes, boyo.

I had an issue a few years ago when I mistakenly took a credit for which I was ineligible. It was an ordeal to pay them and in the end I caught penalties while my payment was in route.

Brah if you've been successfully filing / paying your taxes for years prior, you should be able to get rid of the interest and fees.

I work in tech sales and on avg I make about $250k/yr over the past 5 yrs in take home pay. I have two investment accounts that add up to about $900k right now, and the cap gains will obv fluctuate on those.

I didn't report the 8 week pay from the company that fired me bc I was so fukking salty @ the company that I didn't even want to contact them for the W-2 form when tax time came around. I was really on a crazy bender and feeling sorry for myself in early 2019 and so I think when I was filing taxes, I just sort of 'winged it' and said fukkit, I'm not going to document my time @ that company bc who cares, it was such a short time period, but not reporting the capital gains is inexcusable on my part. No idea what I was thinking.

Damn... I've heard some crazy stories. Thankfully I can pay this but seriously, it's a bit of a gut punch when you think about all of the other uses that those thousands of dollars could go to (ded fkn Srs)

I want you to know that you aren't alone is BS news. I am being sued for a medical debt. I have a question though, Do you think you can negotiate a smaller amount?

Close all your bank accounts and get a job under the table. Remove yourself from all people search website and close all credit accounts. Go off the grid. Never pay taxes again. They can’t draw blood from stone.

lol ok, so the IRS had the income from the employer and brokerage around January 2019 and the computer flagged it immediately when you filed your taxes that the income was missing but waited almost 2 years to send you a letter over snail mail and tacks on 2k in fees.

yeah they going to see all his income over all the years and know he can pay.

whats your strategy to even reduce it, call them and ask nicely, i cant imagine how hard it is to get a live body on the phone. Pay someone to try to get it lowered for you? i dont think there is much they can do when youre in the wrong, you can try to convince them youre poor but they know better.

its not like OP was accused of a crime, they just want their late penalty fees and chit.
