I understand why you’re emotional about it though. And why you’d enjoy it if other people felt the same fear as you.

If you want to take safety precautions to protect yourself, by all means have at it. However, I am not going to follow arbitrary restrictions under the guise of protecting other people because less than 1% of the population passed away this year from a disease.

Also, let me paint a picture for you. Pretend everyone thinks like you. You're all young and healthy right? Well, you get in a car wreck just due to bad luck. No big deal right? I mean it was bad, and you might die if you don't get surgery. But hey, this is America. You're gonna be ok right? Except what if the hospitals were overrun? What if they couldn't fuking treat you? Now do you get the picture? Do you see why people are taking this seriously? It's in everyone's best interest to take the vaccine so we can get over this chit. If enough people take it, we will have herd immunity while sparing a lot of deaths and we can move on.
The vaccine really isn't that bad. We have very sound theoretical principles to tell us that there will be virtually no long term effects. We'd love to have a 10 year study, but there isn't time. The worst effect possible is an allergic reaction.

It is not about a lack of caring it is a bigger picture of using critical thought. Avoiding the potential impact is not worth the restrictions even if your little scenario.

what you fail to realize is that there is also a much simpler solution - end the lockdowns and it is over - although you don't like the potential results of that so it is not viable in your eyes. My favorite places have been defying the shutdowns with one exception.
I got the vaccine, so now I am safe from getting covid.
Nope you can still get covid.
Well at least I don't have to wear a mask or social distance.
Well you never really had to but you are still going to be expected to wear a mask and social distance.
But at least I can't spread covid to anyone else.
Nope, you still can.

In fact, I am more sad for the millions who will be sent into poverty and hunger throughout the world due to the manmade economic restrictions for the virus.

So sure, using science to our advantage is imperative, but there are so many ways to use it.. can't you tell me there might be more effective solutions to our problem?

So I'm still on board for doing my part: willingly getting sick, properly isolating, and not becoming a fearmongering beta who helps decimate the middle class while simultaneously consolidating the power of the elites - over a cold virus.

I think it does make sense. I think if healthy people weren't afraid of getting sick, but recognized the need not to spread the virus, they could make that sacrifice. They could suffer much earlier on, in an attempt to minimize unintentional spread and not chit on the economy. People at risk can take necessary precautions. We could have herd immunity much more quickly.

But as the experts would have you believe, lockdowns are the right response.

I think I know what I am doing wrong, I went to Wal-Mart and it filtered out the virus from my body.
