Who the fuk knows what Melvin did behind the scenes? I don't deal with options much -- what could they have done to manage the risk of these shorts?

Take that $2.75billion influx of cash and buy stocks? Buy calls? Seems equally ludicrous to believe that one of the top performing hedge funds of recent history is just sitting on massive losses and not taking steps to manage their risks in light of what's happening

This. When it went to almost 160 the first day, Melvin and groups like them probably used the influx of money they got from loans to take out even more short positions. Trying to regain control and make money. IMO the only thing that kept the retail investors from bailing entirely was Musk and that former ******** exec. Then retail investors came flocking back this morning. Especially after hearing short % was still virtually unchanged.

Hedge fund managers have egos the size of planets. Would not be surprised if there was some late night calls to get and deploy more capital

Fascinating to watch. But again - if you are buying some of these stocks like AMC late you are a modern day grandma falling for a cold call about a penny stock

Yeah watch out for this guys. FINRA rules say you can't do more than 3 day trades in a 5 day period (4 puts you into daytrader status). If you get flagged as daytrader, you have to maintain $25000 in your account or they force sell to bring you up (happened to me in 2008). "Margin call" is what they call it

IIRC if you stop day trading for 3 months straight, you can ask them to do a 1 time unflag of you (I had this done)

Might be due to halted trading. On monday when I was trading in GME, I did have a stop put in at 70 but it got cancelled after a halt.

so i can contact them and have it done? i hadnt opened my app for 8 months prior to monday

or i get my account up to 25k and thats all i can do now?

It tells you in the app it's 4 trades in a 5 day rolling window. Once you get flagged you have to wait until all trades are beyond that window.
