My only positions are in 3 SPACs right now with a lot of promise, trimmed everything to avoid this.. only thing that pisses me off is AMD tanked, lost close to $3k on that chit. If it starts ripping AH or PM, just hope I can catch it, but otherwise I figured it was better to sell it off, don't want to bag hold $35k worth if the market tanks

However: I'm skeptical of hedge funds selling off their long positions for the simple fact that they can probably negotiate large loans from the banks at very low interest rates (or even high interest rates for a short period of time) to cover their margin on short positions. Is that not a possibility?

That is entirely my stance too. We're working towards transitioning towards cleaner energy and that's good, but the reality is it will take a long af time to wean ourselves off fossil fuels. And even as highly developed parts of the world move away from O&G, population and economic growth in Asia and Africa will continue to drive demand.

IMHO the oil majors announcing divestures from oil exploration etc, if followed through with to the degree they claim, is premature and will only lead to a further supply crunch / potentially another huge oil price spike

Because the trust me, there will be a day where the SEC issues some sort of warning, if not outright suspends these stocks, and they will all fall a huge % within 5 minutes.

What is happening is eating the SEC to its very core. They hate this. Not saying it is right, but its coming.

all these bull runs on meme stocks are like runs on banks.

this has impact on complete market stability.

many hedge funds going belly up. will have impact on everything.

hedge funds own tons of different stocks. if they keep covering gme they will exit positions in say apple / aal etc to meet margin requirements.
