You can’t buy a new Ferrari

You literally can’t, no matter how much money you have you cannot walk into a Ferrari dealership and purchase a brand new Ferrari

Due to their supply vs demand, Ferrari dealers will only allow you to trade up from owning a used model.

The same thing applies with certain models of Rolex watches

My mind is blown.

I remember when the Ford GT came out you had to be approved by Ford just for the opportunity to buy one and it sounded like you had to jump through some serious hoops to prove you were worthy. And you were under contract that you could not sell it within a certain timeframe.
A local business owner's strategy was buying an original Ford GT just so he could claim he deserved a new one since he is a loyalist to GT's, and it worked!

This is pretty well known. They have a bunch of crazy rules like you can't give them a gaudy paint job or do things to the car that they feel would taint the brand image. You can pull this sort if thing when you make something as sick and exclusive as Ferrari.

Basically you have to buy at least one used one before they'll let you buy a new model. They don't like people trying to sell them privately either and that can get you blacklisted from ever being able to get a new one as well. They want all their cars to stay in their network of dealerships.

Honestly this only really applies to their special cars, if you want to buy one of their standard cheaper models you shouldn't have too much trouble.

At the end of the year, they make you buy the chittiest, least desirable model and LOAD it up with $150k+ of bullchit options. They basically tell what car you have "the opportunity to purchase." Once you buy 2-3 of those, you can get on the 2-6 year list to buy a desirable Ferrari.

They don't ever want the brand to be dilluted by plebcels who just cashed in a bunch of bitcoin or whatever. MONEYMOGGERS only!

Nearly all Ferrari's are desirable, the special editions are just for wealthy collectors who never drive them, their cheaper models actually get driven.

Used ones don't count because they don't make any money off those. You have to buy a new less desirable model loaded up with options so they PROFITMAXX off you.

I think you have to pitch them, give them a reason to sell you one. They don't want any old slob driving their cars. Plus most people shopping for one are not serious.

Their "grand touring" models are usually the ones they sell to (some) first time buyers, but like I said, the key is options since that's where make the most margin.

Truth be told, fuk em. I have a 1995 Z28 that’ll wreck a Ferrari any day of the week. Built the engine myself and runs on 93 pump. Spent about 10k on parts for the latest rebuild. 3200 stall converter lifts the front two off the ground, runs the 1/4 in 9.66 @ 180 mph.

Dude you clearly don't know what the Ferrari buying process is like. Only reason most people spend a ton on them is because if you have enough money to easily drop a quarter million on a car, chances are spending an extra 50-100K isn't a big deal to you, if it is then you shouldn't be buying the car. Like the guy who bought my Ferrari new spent at least $50K in options for it, but I have never seen another like mine.

I love the thought of owning a Lambo

I don’t like the actual reality of it, should I even have ever had the money to afford it. If I were 18 sure, but cars like that, now that I’m older, seem like a huge waste of money even if you can afford them.

I have driven one though on some Groupon thing at the nascar track. Was definitely fun.

What does that have to do with anything? All I'm saying is that new Ferrari customers have to buy a car loaded with options as a way to prove their worthiness to Ferrari.

This thread is partially false, you can buy regular Ferraris, what you can't buy as a random guy are special edition vehicles

With a normal Ferrari, just visit your dealer, put your oder in and wait out till its your turn, pretty simple, srs (you will deal with a waiting list, as with any high demand luxury good)

Thats one of the reasons they want you to buy a used one of their dealership - dealers make anything from 10 to 20% on used vehicles

A well managed dealership makes money all across the cycle: new cars, financing, service and used cars

What I am saying is they don't have to, most simply choose to do so. Of course a part of getting a new Ferrari is ordering it where they walk you through every aspect of the car and how you can customize it. The kind of people who got the money to drop on a new Ferrari enjoy customizing them a bit.

Have you heard anything about the El Chapo Mclaren F1's? Every few months some random Mexican pops up and says he has one and will sell to some rich gringo. Always a scam lol. BUT there is for sure at least 1 known Mclaren F1 down there that has completely disappeared off the map.
