Look at that thread a few days ago where two officers got lit up by a male suspect while they were assisting a woman with a property pickup.

You can’t make assumptions about anybody male or female, young or old, everyone has potential to cause a police officer harm. Officers have the legal right to cuff, detain, or handle you as they see fit if you’re guilty of a crime or they have reasonable suspicion

Regardless of how petty you think a law is @OP

Car extension of home. No permit required and no duty to display. Permit required if you step out of the car with it.

So a criminal got caught and got spooked realizing her situation, tried to drive away unharmed, and then pulled a gun on an officer and shot him.

Nothing about this one makes me feel empathy in any way.

Its such a cut and dry Supreme Court case that says the police have the authority to tell you to step out of the car. Like a 5 minute Wikipedia read would inform them of this. But by failing to do something so simple they're changing a traffic violation into a failure to obey charge.

I can’t listen with volume atm, but I believe this is exactly what happened. He had no PC for the search - but she “agreed” and then it was all downhill from there.

An officer needs no reason to order an occupant out of a vehicle.

Usually spins into confrontation.

Also police can only act on the information they know at the time and are judged on their action based on that information.

Comply with police. Complain later. There is often information you wouldn't know giving them broader authority than you would realize.

The downhill spiral can be real, and it’s pretty scary. I let a officer search my cooler awhile ago when I knew he had zero pc just because I wanted the situation over ASAP and he seemed like a pumped up douche type. There were three lawyers present - though he obviously didn’t know that.

It's called consent to search. A thorough investigation should be done to answer the PC question. It may have already existed but he simply asked permission to do so.

It isn't just "complain later"

There was an officer in DC who did a too intrusive search on the side of the road..the guy complied, complained after and the officer got fired.

Similar thing happened in New Jersey and thr guy got a 6 figure payout.

The problem is when certain people want instant gratification for feeling like they've been wronged..so they fight, claw and resist right on the side of the road and someone ends up hurt.

Which makes no sense to me. It's 2021, governments are throwing money around like candy to anyone who says "muh rights got violated" because they don't want their city burned down.

I’d have to see these to believe it, because you can “consent” to just about anything. Once the drugs or whatever are found you’ve got nothing to complain about.

Hell, just consider how all traffic stops work here. “Do you know why I pulled you?” The very first line is designed to get people to self-incriminate.

I got arrested in college for stupidly being caught smoking a joint outside my dorm. The cop caught me with a tiny bit of weed, and guess what? He handcuffed me because that's the protocol when someone is being arrested. I didn't fight back and therefore I didn't get fuking shot. When will these animals learn not to fuking resist arrest?

I have the exact same opinion of what happened to Ryan Whitaker. It is fuking sad. This has nothing to do with race. However, I do view it as sad because she was a woman. I just fail to see how and why the situation had to deteriorate that fast. It's really sad imo.
