If a dog, say pitbull, mastiff, Rottweiler, is running up to attack you. What would you do? How to defend yourself.

Assume you have a knife. Or even assume you have no weapons. What do?

These dog attacks are becoming all too common.

Best bet according to what I've read is sacrifice your non dominant arm then stab repeatedly in the neck while kicking the knees to try and break them. If you have time, wrap arm in your jacket etc if possible.

Mace is supposed to work good since dogs have tons of mucous membrane on the face.

Unless you had like a brick or a rock close by you can pick up to smash its head in you are fukked. Or if you carry around a knife you could start stabbing its neck. Otherwise you won't be able to do jackchit with your bare hands.

A rottweiler would be a bigger problem than a pit. A mastiff would literally crush your bones the first bite and you don't stand a chance

Good suggestions in this thread so far. Just fight back. The problem is most people just try to get away, or get the dog to release, which just drives the predator/prey drive. You need to accept you are probably going to get hurt and some nasty bites. Not only fight back, but come at them, that isn't what prey does, it puts them on the defense.

You can't defend yourself, that's the point. I walk around with 2 pitbulls, so you gotta fight both. Your 9mm handgun not gonna stop angry pits instantly, so your chances of survival is pretty much none at that point. Good luck.

Hmm, well I assume I’m getting mauled so try to protect throat and face, then do like I’m guessing I’d fight a person to death. Use body weight to try to immobilize them on the ground then when they start tiring out, try to apply pressure to strangle them or gouge eyes or something. Tbh I think trying to suffocate it in that scenario would be best since I feel like if you start wailing on the dog it might get a second wind and break free.

That is why you should carry a folding hunting knife. It actually comes in handy for utility purposes and worse case scenario you can use it for self defense. They are legal and you have plausible deniability unlike other edged weapons/firearms.

This is a good technique, but I walk 2 dogs, what are you gonna do then? Stick your leg out? Most people cross the street so my dogs haven't bitten anybody, but still.

Just don't drop your gun. Hold on like it's soap in the prison showers. I did force on force training where dropping your gun is way more common than you think when you are getting into it physically. That training probably helped me a lot but made me lose confidnece in handguns at the same time.

having been around all 3 i am 1000% srs when i say id choose the other 2 over the pit every single time

a dog fighting ghetto pit is legit the scariest fckin dog this planet has to offer, they're so low to the ground and so unbelievably strong the idea of people having them as pets blows my fckin mind. The other 2 while scary are still built like dogs, they aren't these little mini tanks full of dagger teeth

I train my pits to climb walls. They can literally hop over most lifted trucks. Car not gonna save you bud.
