If I get it right something with etfs and hedge funds abusing it
"Yep. He’s saying 2 years from now. Perfect storm. Interest rates too good to be true. Millions of homes sold. I pulled out of damn near every position. Hell. We watched them tank an entire index to cover their ****. Not a fan of watching my safe plays be a coin flip just because one hedgie didn’t get their way."

What's that mean ?reps for knowledge

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-v...180056472.html

hedge fund got margin called couldn't meet it and it got phucked.

https://www.archegoscapital.com/

site is already down.

I posted about it when those said companies that banks started block trading thinking this was beginning or more to come.

However how hard market rallied last 30 minutes it means nothing.

wsb likes to tie in anything with GME thinking citadel or mevlin will be next to get liquidated

which would be absolute nuclear bomb on complete market like merrill lynch 2008 going under.

citadel owns stocks like tesla, microsoft, apple, ********, netflix etc etc.

if it went down market would be hitting circuit breaker on way down.

nobody knows why archegoscapital couldn't meet margin, maybe over extended on china stocks who knows.

archegoscapital seems to be small you can't even find 13f filings on it.

Brahs, I bring news from the SPAC and Options offensive fronts. It appears they’ve found even more creative ways to lose money than the sorry lot in this group. This past month may have been the Granicus to their Darius.

So be glad at least YOU aren’t THEM.

I dont think Archegos is a HF even though its being called one in many forums.

From what I understand a big HF like Citadel, Bridgewater, etc. wouldnt be margin called like you or I would. I believe their backing goes to the gov or Federal Reserve and neither are about to issue a call. I think there are other contingencies that exist in the extent a major HF is about to blow up. Someone can clarify that if Im wrong....this is not my field of expertise.

Finance is a big industry where I live. Many of my friends/neighbors work for hedge funds, banks, financial institutions, etc. When GME started I ended up being on the right side of the trade and was up a good amount of money in a very short period of time. My initial buy in was somewhere in the 40s or 50s thanks to someone hyping it in this thread. While I was planning my exit strategy I called up almost everyone I knew in finance to ask about the situation. No one could give me a straight answer as to where this goes and pretty much everyone said it was uncharted territory. These were former big time traders for HFs, a risk manager for a well known HF, a FA for a big group etc.

Personally, I have no idea where it all ends up and no one I know IRL does either despite actually having worked for some of the HFs involved in the GME saga.

I really wonder if Citadel is hurting from this...or if the whole thing is just a big game to get retail involved while big hands move the stock up and down and use all sorts of financial manipulation to get the price exactly where they want it.

NIO says their plant is able to resume normal production after the temporary shutdown ends. Time for more calls? I don't care about the company, but it looks oversold.

Yeah, I'm sure some people timed it right, luck or skill, it just seems like a questionable approach for long term success. Also, what is your definition of "many" lol. Seems like half the misc panics when they lose $20,000. Either way, looks like a wasteland now.

My PLTR are predominantly in an IRA and were bought at $9.xx with a 10+ year investment thesis. You need to stop letting me live rent free in your head brah, I'm pretty comfortable having tripled a retirement account in 5 months. If we see $50 in a couple years, which I think is reasonable, that's a 6x

Global traders are bracing for what’s shaping up to be one of the most anticipated opens for U.S. equities in more than a year following an extraordinary $20 billion wave of block trades Friday that rattled investors worldwide.

Archegos Capital Management LLC -- the family office of Bill Hwang -- was behind the sales, dumping shares of Chinese tech giants and U.S. media conglomerates, according to two people directly familiar with the trades. While some of the stocks targeted in the block trades initiated by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley rebounded at the end of Friday’s session, ViacomCBS Inc. and Discovery Inc. didn’t. They posted their biggest daily losses ever.

Morgan Stanley traded about $13 billion including Farfetch Ltd., Discovery, Baidu Inc., and GSX Techedu Inc., while Goldman sold $6.6 billion worth of shares of Baidu, Tencent Music Entertainment Group and Vipshop Holdings Ltd. That move was followed by the sale of $3.9 billion of shares in ViacomCBS Inc. and IQiyi Inc., the email said.

Sharif Farha, a *****-based portfolio manager at Safehouse Global Consumer Fund, said ViacomCBS and Discovery may actually recover on Monday and noted that the market’s fundamentals remain intact.

“The correction was not structural,” he said.

Farha expects benign price action to start the day, but anticipation for Monday’s open remains high.
“Traders everywhere know the story and will be glued to their screens,” he said.

Huge Rallies

The possibility of additional block trades still looms over the market, while the traditional end-of-quarter volatility may contribute to sharper swings on high-flying stocks. ViacomCBS and Discovery have rallied this year.

“What most people appear to have missed is that both of these companies have seen their share prices almost quadruple since October last year,” Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets UK, said in a note on Sunday, referring to ViacomCBS and Discovery.

The selloff on the two media companies started earlier last week, when ViacomCBS reported an offering of $2 billion in shares after closing at a record high. The stock fell 9.1% the following day. On Friday, a downgrade by Wells Fargo and the large block trades compounded the selling pressure.
ViacomCBS closed 27% lower to $48.23, down from a high of $100.34 on March 22. Discovery also slumped 27% to $41.90, down from $77.27 on March 19. Other media stocks tumbled too, with AMC Networks Inc. losing 6.4% and Fox Corp. retreating 6.2%.

Viacom and Discovery shares are also echoing volatility in a host of companies that soared on lockdown trades, including Zillow Group and Peloton Inc. and to some degree the entire blank-check SPAC space. Earlier this month, data compiled by Susquehanna International Group showed that volatility futures expiring three months from now were hovering 20% above the average level or prior instances when the VIX traded at 20.

“We have seen an increase in volatility in equities capital markets, tech, working-from-home names with retail stepping back and more rotation to value in the last few weeks,” said Emmanuel Cau, a strategist at Barclays. “It may have hurt a number of funds that were overly exposed to these trades.”
U.S. equities notched their biggest gain in three weeks on Friday and the S&P 500 closed 1.7% higher as the bull market celebrated its first anniversary since hitting pandemic-era lows.
“The markets could start trading in a friendly manner at the beginning of the week,” said Andreas Lipkow, Comdirect Bank strategist. “Although there is currently some major profit-taking and unusual block trade activities, these market asymmetries can currently still be processed well.”

Letting you live rent free? You came that thread trying to troll, nobody took your idiotic bait so you came back to this thread trying to shiet on people who have a higher percentage gain than you like a petty little bitch.

Funny you bring up that thread being a wasteland when this thread is 8hrs of "omg my angus", "ughhhh down 2K again" etc bitching and moaning all day every day. We post when we have ideas for trades etc, not minute by minute journal entries. Not sure why you have such a weird fixation on how others make their money.

Bruh, I think you need some sleep.

Unrelated, but learning how others make their money is an incredibly beneficial thing. I've learned much from friends and sexual partners turned business mentors over the years.

haha stonks hahaha

its funny because the guy from the meme two years ago clowned on stock traders a little bit haha

its funny because its like stocks but its mispronounced stonks haha

its funny because I trade, but also have a self aware sense of humor about myself ahaha so I say stonks haha to keep it more ironic haha
SWRV you just jumped a couple points in my opinion my boy.
