Of all the systems. The ps has the largest hands down fighting community outside of smash. But, Nintendo doesn’t have a big community for the rest of the fighters thanks to their netcode.

Because of COVID, a lot of the pro gamers are moving to PC because the frame rates are the absolute closest they can get to in person and the pros are desperately trying to keep their edges.

Enter GG Strive.

It’s one of the first games to feature the roll back netcode in fighting. On top of that, most fighting games focus on the older system than the new one. Arc systems went into GG this time anticipating the ps5 and prepared for it. So they are pushing the fgc folks onto a new system faster. Especially with how amazing that game performed at the beta level a month ago.

In all honesty, I’m getting a ps5 for GG Strive but I live fighters.
Very informative. Thanks!

In time Ps5 will have the best library of all time and that is why I wanted one ahead of all the epic releases not when they start piling in.

There would definitely be less sales. RIght now you have scalpers hoarding tons of them for resale. If all of those were in the hands of consumers already, there would be less unmet demand and less need to make/sell more consoles.

I'm sure its not a huge chunk of the total but its definitely a relevant amount.

You are completely disregarding people are paying over retail to get them through scalpers. Scalpers only exist in a world where they can profit. Scalpers aren't buying up PS5 supply and holding it just for fun. If anything the fact there are scalpers still this far post launch speaks to greater demand than what sales numbers show.

No I never said there wasn't a lot of demand. The only point I'm making is that there are a lot of people who want a ps5 who refuse to pay a scalper. So, thats a ps5 that could already be in there hands, but instead they are waiting for new supply to get it at retail. So Sony is currently making more ps5s, and selling more ps5s, than is actually demanded by consumers, because so many are refusing to pay the inflated prices of the ps5s that the scalpers have taken.

Scalpers aren't continuing to buy PS5s if their inventory isn't moving.

Well They're hoarding thinking that eventually people will give up trying to find retail and pay their price. But its not like you can't easily get one from a scalper right now, the supply is there on the secondary market but a lot of people refuse to pay the mark up

I have no doubt there are stupid people doing this but don't believe the majority of scalper continue to increase inventory at a faster they are moving it. You have to be sub 70 IQ to not realize that will eventually burn you.

We live in a world of gamestop memes and dogecoin, people are absolutely doing this.

And I don't think it's totally crazy. Something has to give. Nobody thought we'd be in April with ps5s still impossible to find. And sony can't just keep pumping them out to sit in warehouses with no software sales. The scalpers can play the long game and win

I dont like that they soldered in the SSD to the motheroboard. The xbox its replaceable. Eventually prices will come down and it would be nice if you could swap it out for something more

I had an SSD die in my laptop this summer after 5 years. If it was soldered in then the computer would be useless.

Craziest part is the fact that there's barely any games that would warrant a next generation console right now.

Yeah this is by far the craziest scalper situation that I have seen. I mean we always had them in the past but they used to be those losers who would camp out in front of a store and buy 20 consoles. Now they got bots to do all this chit online and have turned it into a hustle. I think covid has a lot to do with it, they used to have a separate store inventory from their online inventory but these days they are one of the same because all the stores are just trying to do store pickups for their brick n mortar locations. It's made it so online scalpers with bots can basically buy everything up, and there's apparently enough people buying consoles off scalpers to where they can afford to keep doing this.

To get around this they are basically going to have to do a mass dump where there's so many consoles available at all the stores that the scalpers can't possibly keep up, and the stores are going to need to lock online orders out of local store inventory so people can just go out to a store and buy one. That would end the scalper market.

Crazy how the gaming community has cried for backwards compatibility for so long, and now for the first time we have it and some people act like it doesn't exist.

Honestly, in a time when the global economy is completely flush with cash and all the bots messing things up its not that impressive. Great for Sony and bragging rights I suppose but doesn't mean much in my eyes.

I dont see that happening anytime soon honestly. I saw this coming, and it will happen with basically anything new going forward. The new switch pro will never be seen in the wild, lol at having a chance at that

People are buying it in anticipation of whats to come. Which we know, based on the ps4, the ps5 will deliver. may as well secure one while you can

By the time the juicy smollett games come out, they'll probably have a better version or discounted original.

Wouldn't mind playing some Demons Souls though.

at this level of demand there won't be a discount for years. There will be plenty of good games out during this time.

And if they dropped an upgraded version it'll also be impossible to find so 🤷

glad to see all three console manufacturers in a healthy place.

Switch is outpacing ps4 sales, ps5 selling incredible. not sure about xbox hardware sales, but their software is doing very well even with game pass existing, game pass subscribers is growing, and their overall reputation is a 180 from last gen.

I'll probs wait to get a ps5 until fall 2023 or 2024. If a pro comes out I'll get that, but I don't think the need is there as much this time. Because these consoles aren't super under powered like last gen, and there is not a big marketing push for something like 4k that warrants it this time around.

Why are people even surprised? It's Playstation, even their lowest selling console hit around 90 million. Surprised people still think consoles are dying out because of mobile and PC. lmao

I think we will definitely see mid gen refreshes. The PS4Pro and 1X were great sellers. Many industry insiders have said if anything we will see more frequent or more significant upgraded systems, some saying MS could but out new hardware multiple times this gen. It just makes sense, many gamers are now adults where the cost of a console is nothing if it gets them a slightly better experience. I'll buy an upgraded PS5 every hear if given the opportunity.
