I just recently switched from a quasi governmental private job to a state job and I honestly wish I would've done it years ago. My stress level has basically dropped to 0. If something goes wrong that there was no way for me to prevent no one cares. At my last job I constantly stressed because if chit went sideways with something they would look for someone to take the fall regardless if there was anything that could've been done to fix it. I also live in a poor state where government positions pay more than private. It was a win all the way around for me

Yeah at that job I met some very brilliant and hard working tradesman (the dumb tradie thing is definitely a myth) and I also met some of the laziest people of my life. These people worked harder trying to not do work than just doing their actual job.

Giving up on a potentially profitable career when I was making big strides within the business at a really early age but because I wasn't seeing monetary gains I QUIT. Probably be making 500k+ if I stuck it out and living the life I always wanted at 29. There are multiple paths to success so maybe in the long run I made the right choice. Only time will tell.

Anyway $50k over several years is not bad and it’s something you can recover from. Like if you had spent that money by investing in a business that failed or a degree that didn’t pay off etc.

The important thing is if you stopped hookers and drugs so you can be healthier and wealthier going forward.
it over the course of about 2 years but I stopped it because I'm not going to get into the 6 figure range, that's just insane lol. But it's soo hard.

It just sucks cause I could've legit started a business with that money or put the down payment for a rental property.

But thankfully I knew when to stop and still am doing fine financially, there's many people that can't stop and legit go BROKE.

Regrets? Probably putting too much energy into other people instead of myself. I was brought up to be that way though.

Believe I've gotten better about this with age and experience. Just have one big freeloader to shed.

Hard to say. I definitely dont feel as horny as i felt when i was 19-20, then again stress level, physical exertion etc are much higher. Mentally and psychologically, it didnt help for sure.

But for around a year i was completely uninterested in women (no homo). It was a nightmare, and it happened out of nowhere too. But even worse than that was the mental fog, its ridiculous, i swear my IQ was like -15 on that drug lol.

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

This.

Even more recently too, multiplied by 10 since last year after all.

In 2013/2014 I mined dogecoin because I thought it was funny. I used a GTX 970 for it. I remember I had tens of thousands of dogecoins. don't recall the exact amount. Saw recent prices and grabbed my old hard drive, hooked it up, and it looks like I had deleted/overwritten the wallet. When I recovered it it was full of dummy data that the disk had overwritten the original data with. Lost forever. $0.40 today, would've surely been thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of dollars if sold today.

For the most part, I don't regret what I have done. Information is limited, and you have to take a gamble.

What I'm thinking though is sticking so long with my running career. Had major problems with my shins in high school even though I had some solid natural talent for endurance. Wound up spending a lot of practices alone trying to rehab/whatever while constantly failing for 4 years. Wonder if doing soccer and/or wrestling would have been better. Maybe would be less of a social retard, who knows if success in those could have helped in college admissions, and it would have been nice to have some reward for all my efforts.

Also spent the last 2.5 years on a master's degree in China. Job market seems meh right now, dunno that my experience/education really put me in a good place for industry positions, and a good portion of that degree was fukkin miserable. Had plenty of cool/life-changing experiences for sure, but I wonder if just taking the job offer I had 2.5 years ago, earning some good bank, living with some close bros in Boston would have been the move. Deferring gratification and becoming more of an autistic workaholic is kind of a pattern of mine
