If you can't do that much $ then imo the next best thing is to get a blemished BCM complete lower for $340 (sometimes primary arms has them for like $275, I've gotten one that way before), then just buy a BCM complete upper with BCG and that's like a $1200 rifle I'd trust my life to and will run good. The newer triggers that BCM puts in their rifles are pretty good, maybe on par or slightly less good than an ALG trigger (which ALG are like 85% what you get from a G trigger but they're like $75 iirc). Oh, a full price BCM complete lower at $400 is solid too (only $60 more).
If you can't do that, then next best thing is an Aero M4E1 stripped lower and build it outover time when you get the money... I don't think it's cheaper than a BCM blem lower but if you need a pistol or can't put down the $ all at once then it's a good option.
Options to build out Aero lower:
1. $100 for Aero M4E1 lower + ffl transfer fee
2. LPK options:
- A. $185: I think the Geissele mid-range LPK they have is well worth it at like $90, then get an ALG trigger with that ($75).... plus a $20 BCM grip now you're at $185
- B. $120 The BCM enhanced LPK with grip and FCG is the better option at $120 but they're always sold out!
- C. $121 Aero LPK minus FCG and grip $26, plus BCM grip $20, plus ALG trigger $75, $121 this is really good option too. I had my brother do this.
3. Buffer assembly options (let's assume you need a H2 buffer, but change if needed):
- A. $127: Geissele combo of buffer tube, end plate, castle nut, H2 buffer, Super 42 spring. I think this is a really good value for what you get. But rare to find in stock rip in peace
- B. $75: BCM has a kit with buffer tube, end plate, castle nut, H2 buffer, carbine spring. Great option as well. I'd kind of rather get their A5 intermediate buffer system though
- C. The only options are A or B for me personally, no point going cheaper to just save like $25 over option B
4. Stock/brace (depending on what you're doing)
- A. BCM stock is like $55
. B. SBA3 brace is $130
I think that this is the best route to build out an Aero M4E1 lower, you're able to build it out with quality parts and it's not too expensive being between $350 or $540 depending on what things you need ($540 being with the Geissele stuff and a sba3 brace). But seeing as how the "minimum" package with this is $350 I think it's better to just get a complete BCM blem lower at $340 or better yet sometimes when you can get them for like $275... so the only reason I'd go with this Aero lower over the BCM blem is if either:
A. You bought a bunch of stripped Aero lowers to build out later on
or
B. You couldn't afford to spend $350 up front
Also, right now, if you're new to it, good luck finding an Aero M4E1 in stock right now for $100 including your ffl transfer fee. Whereas, right now, Rainier Arms has the BCM blem in stock at $340

Lol it's coming out now that Colonial actually did pay $5 million in ransom to get the pipelines going again... I guess Taf called it. I smelled a rat but didn't think this would come out. It is interesting that the pipeline restarted at exactly 5pm eastern yesterday. Apparently they had a mentally disabled password to their entire network control system like "admin"
And they paid the ransom in crypto, just lamo. I'm in the wrong bidness

It was my favorite after shooting a friends cause I like the trigger and overall feel. And paddle mag release and a couple other things. Don’t have thousands of rounds behind one or anything.
Didn’t notice anything profoundly unique about the VP9 trigger guard of all things.

I have 12,800 rounds through my VP's. Two stoppages that entire time...1 was in the very first range trip using cheap weak crappy ammo in the first 100 rounds (it has 3,765 now and that was the only non-perfection) and the other 1 was with purple dyed wincrapper for training use only ammo.
You can do ball and dummy drills without dummy rounds or snap caps. Load spent empty cases into the mag and it feeds them and goes into battery perfectly normal. Literally they feed empty cases reliably
Trigger is good. Apex triggers for other guns are better, but VP9 is good enough there's no reason to spend money changing it. Paddle mag release, use trigger hand middle finger, superior to push button, and also fully ambi. Most accurate pistol I have.
But bore axis is counter productive at speed and the full size is dimensionally equal to a G17 despite the barrel being G19 length, and most of the mags are still the 15 round G19 size despite the grip being as large as a G17

Hard to tell in the pic but I’m holding the gun upside down to show that that’s where all the grip is coming from.
The VP9 is really wide in the trigger guard and with the paddle mag release and all that just makes it harder. But I dunno, haven’t shot one in a while.
