Although civilian variants of modern assault rifles lack select fire capabilities for small arms suppression in the event where this element is necessary to maneuver on the enemy, they are absolutely viable for many military purposes, including but not limited to assaulting/defending a building with a team, which does in fact make them assault rifles, albeit a neutered one. In fact, it is standard procedure to use single fire in CQB engagements due to the necessity of minimizing collateral damage and optimizing shot placement to neutralize in the quickest, most effective way possible.
The main issue with all of these discussion is people make up definitions to terms or just use the definition they like the most, and every party involved in the discussion seems to have a different set of terms.

What I see from the grabbers has "weapon of war" being defined/explained as "currently in common use by nation states' militaries for war". In this context, an "AR15" is not a weapon of war.

"Assault rifle", as far as I know, in its most correct definition, requires select fire. In this context, an "AR15" is not an assault weapon.

I of course agree with the sentiment you are posting, which is why I post it regularly and why I stated it in the post you quoted, but...using different definitions for words just-because doesn't help communication.

If by "weapon of war" you mean "viable for many military purposes", sure, a semi auto 5.56 rifle is viable for many military purposes. But not even our domestic LE limits themselves to 16" barrel semi automatic rifles for their war against US Citizens so calling those neutered long barrel semi-autos "weapons of war" doesn't seem like a very good fit.

I think you’re good to pin it. I’m just saying pin an A2 instead.

The new griffin suppressors can attach to a standard A2 birdcage.

I wouldn’t SBR a 14.5, seems like a waste.

I just got back from the LGS, picked up another Glock. I don't know why but this bugged the hell outta me. I was born in Greece and am a US citizen as well as a Greek citizen. Box 19 of the 4473 has you list all the countries where you are a citizen.

This POS sister-fuking country redneck peckerwood LGS employee, looks at that part of the 4473 and asks me if I have my green card with me. I kinda went off on the guy a little bit. Maybe I shouldn't have, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. The manager had to come over and set him straight that if I am a US citizen, I don't have a gotdamn fukking green card and it doesn't matter how many other countries I am a citizen of.

This dumbass sack of sh!t hillbilly.

I've been told to "go back" to where I came from about 4 times in my life, and every time the guy ended up regretting that decision. I wanted to slap the balls right off this guy's face.

Don't fall too hard for the argument, no matter that it's completely true, that semi auto AR type rifles are not weapons of war, with the underlying implication being "but if they were, it would be okay to regulate them farther", is my point. They are absolutely not weapons of war. But, that shouldn't matter.
The 2A should cover everything a dismounted infantry platoon has. This includes M2s, 60mm mortars, Gustavs, etc. A possible exception to that could be the amount of C4 allowed to personally own since one person obtaining too much of it could use it to inflict catastrophic destruction. We used C4 regularly and minor explosives should be allowed in civilian hands, but how much of it is the question.

I should be able to walk to my LGS and buy a Mk 48 as easily as I can buy my groceries at the next stop on my way home.

Select fire options excel in gaining fire superiority more than anything. All of which should be completely legal, of course.

You can't pin an A2/A2X/BCM Comp to a 14.5" upper, have a "16 inch" rifle by law, and attach the Griffin silencer. You would need a 16" upper with a standard A2 or I think Comp Mod 0, or you would need to SBR it or build it as a pistol to use a 14.5" base

But I haven't looked into it super recently

Actually, looking at it, the Mod 1 doesn't have the BFA adapter, so it won't work with the Griffin Armament. Oh well.

The 2A should protect everything not banned in warfare, i.e. indiscriminate large scale tools like bioweapons. If in 200 years we are shooting mini-warheads propulsed by nuclear detonations, then so be it, citizens may be armed with nuclear weapons.

Precisely. None of what a dismounted platoon carries could present a threat to society at large, other than if one stockpiled the explosives in large amounts, so that is where a discussion would need to be held to determine where that line is.

The 2A should protect everything not banned in warfare, i.e. indiscriminate large scale tools like bioweapons. If in 200 years we are shooting mini-warheads propulsed by nuclear detonations, then so be it, citizens may be armed with nuclear weapons.
I completely disagree with this because the US government could simply declare X weapon is banned from warfare and thus restrict it from civilian hands (even though we'd of course continue to use it).

During WW1, Germany formally objected to the US Army's use of shotguns. The Army responded by equipping soldiers with more and totally gutting Hans with buckshot.

I'm pretty sure hollow point bullets are technically "banned" from warfare as well, which is retarded.

The end goal should be what Farley said, once a weapon can threaten society at large, it should no longer be in civilian hands.

I disagree. If you can afford it, you should be allowed it. Srs.

This POS sister-fuking country redneck peckerwood LGS employee, looks at that part of the 4473 and asks me if I have my green card with me. I kinda went off on the guy a little bit. Maybe I shouldn't have, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. I've been told to "go back" to where I came from about 4 times in my life, and every time the guy ended up regretting that decision. I wanted to slap the balls right off this guy's face.
