The wire has to be one of the most overrated ****ing tv shows of all time

Huge snooze fest through and through

Forced myself to watch it all, it being ranked up there with the ranks of the sopranos etc

Hoped it would pick up the pace at some stage.. it never did, besides a few standalone episodes and maybe season 4 or something I think?

I agree srs tried multiple times to watch got all the way to season 4 just felt like I was forcing myself to watch. Didn’t care about the characters or politics. A couple interesting parts but that’s it

OP watch a show called snowfall, just give 2 episodes a go and if you like it keep watching. I personally feel it can rival the wire and its far more exciting

I liked season 1 the best. Didn't find the stories outside of the barksdale crew interesting, but it was ok.

I like the wire.

I don’t think it potrays black culture in a positive light at all. If anything it highlights how awful the culture is. And how hard it is to break that cycle.

One of the best written and acted shows of all time.

It's not tightly paced like something like Breaking Bad and its trying to do a lot more than just be entertaining, but it will 100% reward an attentive viewer.

Black culture? Who was seasons 2, 4 and 5....

I watched it and it's pretty much true that it's only fun watching joggers do jogger things.

The cop parts and politic parts are boring as hell. The only parts that people enjoy are "Omar comin" and run ups and executions. Omar was GOAT, best part of the show.

I downloaded it and skipped through everything that wasn't that.

I guess it's not to different from how Hollywood made Italian Mafia into these scheming hyper intelligent sohpistochants when they were a bunch of low IQ dumasses like the vast majority of organized criminals. Ie. You amass power by your willingness to murder rather than using your brain

Season 4 is overrated, while Season 2 is underrated. The show is one of the GOATs, but it starts out really slow.

It’s like a time capsule of the early 2000s.

I’ve watched it through several times and it’s probably the only show I’ve watched that feels like something that has actually occurred. Hard to put into words, but every character feels like a real person.
