There is actually a deep connection between the US government and nazi Germany. The US did not oppose the nazis until Japan bombed Hawaii in order to secure oil trade with Indonesia.

Cool thread....Kinda reminds me of this that was shot in 1906.

From a youtube comment.

"This film was shot on April 14, 1906, just four days before the San Francisco earthquake and fire, to which the negative was nearly lost. It was produced by moving picture photographers the Miles brothers: Harry, Herbert, Earle and Joe. Harry J. Miles hand-cranked the Bell & Howell camera which was placed on the front of a streetcar during filming on Market Street from 8th, in front of the Miles Studios, to the Ferry building. A few days later the Miles brothers were en route to New York when they heard news of the earthquake. They sent the negative to NY, and returned to San Francisco to discover that their studios were destroyed."

No, it happened when Germany declared war on the US thinking Japan would also attack the eastern side of the USSR.

Roosevelt was waging an undeclared war on Germany since the summer of 1940 by attacking German u-boats in the atlantic. Hitler was hoping the Japanese attack would take the US out of the atlantic.

Germany declared war on the USA on December 11th, 1941, four days after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The US provided support to British allies, but they did not enter the war in earnest until Pearl Harbor and its declaration of war against the Japanese Empire. You've got your dates out of order.

Before this, a policy of isolationism pervaded, which was the very subject of that nazi rally in NYC. Hitler was not directing the Japanese military, the oil trade that fueled their imperial progress was threatened by Hawaii for the exact reasons you mentioned.

This is why Pearl Harbor happened, much of WWII was fueled by and focused on strategic oil reserves.
