I NEVER drank after HS, and yet, most of my friends were parting pretty hard. I hardly ever drank in jr/sr either.
You're supposed to grow up after HS and not need to party to have a good time!! Staying away from all the social drinking takes a lot of willpower and confidence.
It IS very sad when people drink to "cope." I've known enough people who had drug and/or alcohol addictions and it's very very dangerous. They should seek help immediately. I'm sure the pandemic made it tougher to seek good help, so that's another thing that got fuked up by all this.

Liver failure is a MOFO and its happenng to women younger and younger because they drink like men and their bodies cannot handle it well.
The scary part is that up to nearly 80% Liver failure you feel fine .............and then you fall off a fckin cliff

And society wonders why depression is at an all time high. The most popular and available drug that's cheapest to get and accepted by society? Massive depressant.
Worse, it is actually celebrated that if you have some drinks and party plus then take energy drinks to get yourself back up the next day you're actually cool on social media.
My family is full of alcoholics, most of them functional but they drink every day. I've even fallen into that trap before during COVID.

And yeah, the pandemic made it almost impossible for many many people to get the clincal help they needed- including medical, mental, dental, specialist follow-ups, etc.. Many people were on their own....

Great aunt was an alcoholic, mother, father, one uncle, stepmother, etc, etc. My sister doesn't drink at all as a result and I'm very aware of my limits.

Agree. Stupid biological differences.
- drinking has been socially acceptable for a long time
- there are a lot more people thatwanta traditional marriage and family, but can't afford it, or can't find a sound partner, or both
A little controversy now, but I think the "rat heaven" study is still relevant. Rats addicted to drugs, moved to a happy rat environment, most addicted rats reduced usage or even stopped.
Addictions increase when more people are unhappy in their daily life.
We could make changes to support young people forming healthy functioning families. But I'm not going to hold my breath.
Might as well legalize MJ and start a public education effort to inform women that once they are 21 or so MJ is a better choice because their bodies can't metabolize alcohol like a man's body can.

People are more depressed. It's not shocking at all.
It's only going to get worse the more we let the mentally ill control our society.

MJ meaning pot?? Legalizing pot will increase driving fatalities and accidents. Not a bright idea, imho. It's the same thing as a DWI!! People aren't going to stop driving, even when under the influence.

I mean if I were a HTC female I’d probably drink my brain into oblivion in the hope I could erase the many memories of post chipotle visits to the bathroom where I force out a ghastly chocolate brontosaurus legs that are completely unflushable and make zero progress with the plunger due to my weakling noodle arms

I read something about how non-alcoholic fatty liver is very high in men, could be as much as 40% of the population. With a shot liver from not even drinking, maybe men are experiencing more negative effects from alcohol when they do drink and not drinking as much?

Small sample size though. Maybe women that already have a family and have a late life "oops" pregnancy because their cycle isn't reliable anymore and they already see their family as complete and want to have some time still in their lives for other things.

There's never been a recorded pot dwi fatality, at least not since 2010 when I actually looked at that stuff.
The only thing I'll give pot smokers is that if they're the type to stick with mostly just pot, they're more mellow to be around.
The chatter and smugness is pretty annoying though.
Ecstasy is a pretty awesome social drug, but it's so easily abused and quickly causes depression if used more than a couple times a year.

Haven't spent time around pot smokers since my early 20's, but I recall them driving pretty slow overall and being genuinely a bit paranoid while under the influence.

God forbid you get pulled over, the effects are identical to alcohol impairment- DWI or DWU. So, there will be more violence on the road, when and if states legalize it!!

I figure there are other ways to cope, for both men and women.
I would reason the real reason people drink alcohol at first is because it's fun and a social thing. But it can easily become addictive and dangerous, or an unhealthy way to "cope" with the pain of life.
No one is being forced to drink, but there are a million ways to rationalize the use of any recreational drug. At first it felt really strange to just not do any smoking or drinking, but after a while I really didn't give a phuck. Feels like avoiding a lot of problems. expenses. and disadvantages that I never needed to have in the first place.

Theyre realizing trying to project on social media is nothing but a projection that makes people value them for nothing but their looks or a warm hole.
Or, when all those 5/10s enter the real world and dont get the same thirsty attention reality sets in that they cant be running around with the attitude they have.
