Dragon Ball Z is one of the most overrated anime’s

Besides the Cell saga DBZ is really just boring. Dragon Ball was decent but GT and Super were ridiculous and boring. It’s really just an overrated anime

Well GT and Super are pretty much universally hated by dragon ball fans.

Original dragon ball up to the end of cell games was amazing though. Now there are probably better, but most copied a similar formula from dragon ball. It was revolutionary for its time.

Overrated af, but still a classic.

I grew up with DBZ as a teen and it was the absolute GOAT.

But watching it as an adult? Absolute trash from storyline, character development, and particularly dialogue.

Its better on something like youtube, where I can just watch fights and power ups because nothing else is worth watching at all in the show.

DBZ Abridged however.... some good chit.

I enjoyed Super. Not sure why it got so much hate. Would turn it on this past year while doing cardio and finished about a month ago. Does it compare to watching DBZ while growing up as a kid? Of course not. Was still pretty good though and I am looking forward to the next season.

The original Dragon Ball (no z) was the best IMO. It had some pretty good laughs and wasn't repetitive.

GT had some alright parts, super is so trash it almost retroactively made me dislike dbz

You can’t compare DBZ to newer anime. It’s like 40 years old. For the time, and up until the early 2000’s it was goat. If anime had a HoF then DBZ would be a first ballot member.

Agree. It was good when we were kids cause there wasn't anything else we could compare it to. Now is just mediocre nostalgia. Story was ok & fights dragged ass for weeks. Brb 1 entire episode was just screaming from different angles trying to power up for the battle you're not gonna see this month.

Was groundbreaking/visionary at the time it came out in the 90s/2000s. Goku/Vegeta vs the multiverse is still one of the best and versatile storylines in all of anime, even if DBS was drawn out and corny at times. GT isn't even canonical to the OG manga so no comment on that

Looking forward to what they do now that Broly is in the picture and Goku is basically a saiyan god

Power creep ruined the series. There are now about 4 different tiers of gods because someone needed to be stronger than Goku as he outgrew the previous gods.
