Do you believe climate change is a myth?

I don’t have any facts on what’s changed, but anecdotally I’m sure everyone has experienced climate that has been very different than the norm. Today the Seattle area is setting record high temperatures (110+), in the winter we had a record of almost 2 feet of snow. Both occurrences I have not seen anything close to in the 15 years I have lived here. The weather patterns of the past couple years have also been very abnormal, and it seems to happen everywhere. A couple years ago I was in the Midwest for work during the polar vertex.


Without bringing politics into play, what are your thoughts on this.

IDK enough about the topic , honestly. My geologist buddies seem to think we're just going through a major temp shift that is normal.

However, I do think controlling and reducing pollution is the way regardless if it's impacting global warming or not.

The US military has made it a priority as it's affecting national security in Guam. Mostly rising sea levels due to carbon emissions.

I mean you can deny that the Earth is round, and it's not really going to matter unless you are in charge of something where it actually matters. Like flying an airplane or launching a satellite.

There's probably a good reason why there's not a big overlap between flat Earthers and highly skilled workers, I'd reason the same goes for anyone that denies something like melting ice. It used to be profitable for oil companies to deny it, but even they don't do that anymore.

I believe it’s real. I believe human are accelerating it.

I don’t believe that me driving a basic car vs a Prius is gonna make a difference. I don’t believe basically anything I do would make a difference. The human component can largely be attributed to China and India and a few other countries as well as the US in decades past

"Climate Change Myth" is an invented term to discredit skeptics

I think most people believe in climate change. The Earth has been changing and will keep changing, the sun is changing, everything in the universe is changing.

I and other "anti-science deniers" are skeptics of Anthropogenic Climate Change. Of course you'll always find that one guy who believes climate change is fake and we live on a circle.

I remember in 2011-2013 they said the Earth would be 2.x degrees warmer by 2019 & a large portion of California would be underwater

That's why the EPA created the whole "gas guzzler" tax & they created new laws for MPG's

10-15k years ago we were in a period of glaciation and the Sahara desert was green. Megafauna still roamed the earth and we went through freeze and thaw cycles very regularly before that. I think climate change is real and even if humans are causing it, the earth can handle it. We’ve had plenty of periods of rapid climate change before.

I think a bigger problem is the pollution of trash and plastics in our oceans and environment and the wide scale destruction of prime habitats where nature can adapt to these changes. I don’t want live in a world full of trash with cool wildlife only surviving in zoos or photos.

Where I live we have had an all time record low in the number of tornados (supposed to be more with warming right?) and the local pool opened a couple weeks later than normal because it was such a cold early summer.

Anecdotal evidence is a good way to trick stupid people into believing we can tax our way into fixing a problem by enriching people who buy oceanfront property while preaching about rising seas levels.

Earth has been here for 4 billion years and we have 100 years of keeping track of the temperature and think we have any idea at all what is going on. Liberals like with everything use it as a tool to pull on heart strings "Conservatives don't care about the Earth" just like racism or gender or sexual orientation.

I remember reading about it 15 years ago freaking out thinking that the ice caps would melt

15 years later I see people the same age doing that same thing

so no, I don't think we are significant enough to change the climate to such an extent, although I do think we should be watching our emissions and trying to do things in a cleaner way

I believe it's real. I believe humans are fuking things up royally for future generations.

I don't think we'll do anything about it (at least before we have some horrible chit happening that forces us to). And I know for a fact I'm not going to jak chit about it myself.... so honestly zero fuks given.

I believe to be a great deal of dishonesty in what is reported and said about the man made global warming theory. It is a topic though that causes a number of people a great deal of fear and anxiety. For me from what I've read and learned I'm not overly concerned with global warming. Addressing it is low on my list of items that should be addressed.

I think that it's likely another problem that is being exploited, such as the war on terror, the war on drugs, etc. An interesting factor is that the problems on which we're told to focus are extremely large in scope and aren't realistically within our influence, at least in a way that will make a tangible difference. I suspect that it will be used in the same way as the previous War on ______ . It very well could be a problem, and I'm for a cleaner environment and less pollution, but it probably won't play out in that way. What are the masses supposed to do to avert climate change? Recycle, drive less... They want people to be aware of climate change and to vote for legislation/policies that will combat it. The issue is, why are votes needed for something that is supposedly going to end the world as we know it? Shouldn't things be put in place simply for the fact that it will cause our extinction?

the nameclimate changeis just rebranding of global warming. in the big scheme of things, humans are but a fart in the wind. we've had several ice ages and subsequent warming/heating events.

Climate change is definitely real. I won't be surprised towards the end of my lifetime to see a scenario similar to Interstellar where crops are difficult to grow in the real ground and there are water shortages. There's no way that the extreme swings in temperature on either end of the scale (very hot and very cold in the last 3-5 years) isn't caused by something.
