How do you know filters weren't used in these pics? It dosen't matter. But I can't tell a damn thing from pics on social media.

that first pic almost definitely has no filters on it. doesn't look shopped either. looks kinda old too, old iphone, filters weren't that good then.

Norway passes law requiring influencers to label retouched photos on social media
Legislators in Norway's Parliament have passed a new law, by a 72-15 vote, that will require content creators to disclose when they have retouched or added a filter to a photo. Yahoo News reports that the law will apply to influencers and advertisers alike, to address 'body pressure in society.' After garnering overwhelming support in parliament, the law will go into effect when directed by Harald V, the current King of Norway.

Youth advocacy groups and Norway's Ministry of Children and Family Affairs have called for stricter measures on image editing for years, amid increasing concerns surrounding body image, mental health and low self-esteem, particularly among Norway's youths.

It was a short article and it didn't address the influence social media has had around the world. I do think a platform or site can 'ban' certain manipulations such as enlarged lips, exaggerated muscles, reduced body size and narrowed waists (an overused alteration), as ''recommended" in the above article, if they wanted to- if they have the updated technology. The exaggerated affects are getting ridiculous.

They acknowledge the prevalence (and harm) of these digital manipulations on all the big platforms- including Tik Tok. But the thing is, celebrities and "influencers" need to promote and sell themselves with a certain packaging. It will be hard to accomplish some of their goals without filters and light photoshop, no matter how beautiful they may be IRL. Before digital enhancement the media sold us airbrushing... and most non-famous people were fine with that. It was just an accepted well-known realty in the biz.



If ALL the countries, and not just Norway, don't get onboard with passing and enforcing 'trickery' laws like the ones proposed, then I don't see how this will work to protect anyone. This has been a global issue for awhile, apparently.


I still believe people with BDD, muscle dysmorphia, and eating disorders should consult with a trained counselor, at least a few times, to rule anything out and then take it from there.
