The league intends to play its entire 272-game schedule over 18 weeks (17 games per club). And this is key:

"We do not anticipate adding a '19th week' to accommodate games that cannot be rescheduled within the current 18 weeks of the regular season."

Play on time or don't play.

Other key competitive aspect of today's memo:

Vaccinated individuals who test positive and are asymptomatic can return to duty after two negative tests 24 hours apart.

Unvaccinated individuals still subject to mandatory 10-day isolation period.

More strong language from today's NFL memo:

"Every club is obligated under the Constitution and Bylaws to have its team ready to play at the scheduled time and place. A failure to do so is deemed conduct detrimental. There is no right to postpone a game."

This is the NFL's strongest step yet to incentivize vaccinations. In essence, vaccination status dictates action:

"If a club cannot play due to a Covid spike in vaccinated individuals, we will attempt to minimize the competitive and economic burden on both participating teams."
the anti-vaxxer NFL fans are gonna hate this one.

Not turning this thread into this topic. But my wife and I got Covid March of last year. I got it from her as she travels for work and just got back from LA. This was before any news or anything. She went down and I took care of her. Then two days later I came down with it. A week long sick as a dog. Taking hot showers ever couple hours to get rid of the shivers. Then it's over..... I've never had a single issue since. I've been back at 3 different gyms now over a year. Never once wearing a mask. I've not even gotten a cold or the flu. Same with my wife. So we are part of the 99.6987876556468% survival rate. Your immune system is a kick ass machine when you are a healthy individual. No doctor visits, no shots, nothing.

Have they said anything about how the whole forfeiting games thing will work if they are vaccinated players? Seems more likely since they won’t be restricted from going anywhere on off days and whatnot.

It's hilarious how many of his 10 interceptions last year were terribly thrown balls. I don't watch the Dolphins enough to know whether or not he's a top CB, but I do know he'd be talking about having the most INTs in a season since '07 as one reason for a better contract.

I'm all for a player getting what they're worth and all, but he just signed the damn contract 2 years ago and is getting $15M/year. This is one of those situations that will change everything for players if he gets what he wants so soon after signing.

1. Instead of playing out his contract year and trying to get free agency, he took a 5 year extension and played it safe.
2. Complains that his teammate Byron Jones, who gambled on himself by not taking an early extension, got rewarded in free agency.
3. Howard is still the 5th highest paid CB in 2021.
