Sorry, boyo, but you're getting cucked by your fear of a little jab here
Are we really going to pretend like the Government isn't putting pressure on these companies to comply? It isn't a law because they can't make it a law. The government has corporations doing their dirty work. Stop being disingenuous.

Bunch of stupid hypocrites
they'd argue that by you choosing not to get it you're taking away their right to be healthy since you could give it to them. which would mean they got sick against their will. of course since the vaccine only works to some extent that point would be moot.

Correct, they do.

The issue is government coercion, pressure, or incentives. It's a similar argument between capitalism vs crony capitalism. Once you have so much government meddling into your business it's not really the same.

If a company is incentivized by the govt to push this and require it, then your company is essentially just the middle man. The govt would've directly required it to everyone if they could but they can't for good reason so they're using other means to do so.

Selfish to only care about yourselves instead of those around you. Its a shame the wife won't be useful helping patients anymore. What a waste of nursing school education. Enjoy your high horse and your "freedom" .

We'll figure it out. But some Red States are cleaning up grabbing all nurses that don't want to be vaccinated. We've travelled to AZ and Maine this year already before the mandates. I'm not against going to Oklahoma for 6 months, South Dakota for 6, etc. Moving around the country making money, if need be. The reality is, there is a significant nurse shortage. There has been for years, even before Covid. I think, if enough nurses quit, the whole system will be put under tremendous strain. Six months from now they'll allow people to get tested weekly if they don't want the vaccine.

If not, then it's time to do something else. Every hospital she has been at is severely understaffed, and everyone is burned out, including my wife. I believe in fate. Whatever is meant to come of this, will. I have no doubts that if she can't be a nurse anymore, she'll find a career that she enjoys doing something else.

Props and reps to you OP. I'm happy you and your wife are on the same page and if you stick together, everything will be fine for you two.

Have her look into traveling nurse. I have a friend traveling 3 days a week, 3 hours away. She doubled her pay and does less work/hours. It might be strenuous for the marriage, but something worth considering since she'd be paid so much she wouldn't have to work as much. Likely can qualify for a religious exemption or like other people I know, get a fake vax, although I don't condone that.

I'll likely be leaving my healthcare employer too. As soon as they mandated it, I had some recruiters reach out to me. I've done interviews already with some private companies, no vax mandate and a better wage/bonus to boot. This is not the end. It's just the end of authoritarian corporate employment, which we're all better off not partaking in.

Lmfao how delusional can you be?

Youre gonna be REQUIRED to get a booster every 6 months, probably more for every new variant.

You signed up for a subscription service boyo, the vax antibodies wane.

Theres nothing guaranteeing the boosters will be free once it leaves EUA and gets distributed as a trade name drug.

Nurses I know (and date) are planning on going into private care nursing. One is even considering becoming a nanny (demand and pay are really high).

Easier said than done but 2 solutions to this.

1.) Have so much money no one can tell you what to do.

2.) Work for company that does not require this.

#1 option ideally

Ah yes. Because going head first into the Pandemic, at the time when we all thought getting Covid meant guaranteed death, is her being "selfish". Its a shame that the hospital is losing a great nurse, not the other way around. The hospitals should be ashamed that they forced other nurses into this by threatening their livelihood. The wheel keeps turning, there is no doubt about that.

Not once have I berated someone who is pro Covid-vaccine. So idk what high horse you're speaking of. But I will enjoy our "freedom", regardless of the bumps that it brings with it. Some people actually stand on their principles, we're not all cowards. I'm not saying people who take the vaccine are cowards. If you want the vaccine, take it. I'm saying that money and the illusion of safety, would never be enough to buy my freedom of choice over my own body.

imagine bitching and moaning about being understaffed and unable to care for patients and then willingly laying off tons of your employees. this will in turn lead to more nurses quitting (vaccinated ones even) because they'll be asked to do more and more. it's funny how libs are too shortsighted to see this domino effect. the people who come to the hospital with covid already have it, so even if the nurse wasn't vaccinated, it's irrelevant. almost nobody is catching covid from their nurse. i'm sure there are cases of it, like anything else, but the vast majority show up with the virus already, quite obviously.

Nursing is incredibly versatile. I have no doubts she'll be able to find something outside of the hospital setting. Its just a matter of when, not if.
