What happened to cars??
IN SHORT: Go back to the pre 2010 car world. Cars lost their "spice", it's all about being ecofanny and not rolling up in the most badass/powerful vehicle around. Crazy design ideas, all gone.
Not breaking out blueprints/specs, as not everyone is into cars.
As a youngster, cars with neon lights, 500 stickers, 8ft long spoilers, exhausts spitting fire and bonnet/roof vents etc were the ultimate cars I wanted to have. Dreamed about it as year by year a new production line would release and, well, I was very impressed each year. Toyota Supras, Ricer Cars, Hot Rods, and Subaru Imprezas pre 2003. They looked liked they were designed by a 10 year olds imagination, but those cars were all real on the road and designed by fully grown adults who owned and street raced them. Cars like the McLaren F1 primed way earlier than anything else.
Well, maybe these fairy cars weren't your choice. Other cars pre 2010 were insanely designed/built aswell. Ferraris, Fords, Mazdas, Chevrolet, Citroens, Audis, BMWs, whatever. Rally Cars, Super Cars, Muscle Cars, F1 Cars, SUVS etc, they were all beast cars no matter what their classes were. Suited for anyone and everyone. At the time, they all had insane designs. (F50, Zonda R, Corvette, 99 Skyline, RX7, etc).
Youngsters going out revving their ****boxes outside Mcdonalds, fake street racing, showing off their rides, constantly buying parts like in a videogame. Even screwing up their suspension to "bounce around town". (Like in the rollin video) Retarded, but also cool.
Fast forward to 2013 - 2021, the car scene has become pretty average. New cars looking boring, boasting pointless features, being "eco" friendly so under the hood they suck crap. It's like they're designed for the elderly. It's pretty pathetic. Compare a car that existed pre 2010 to the newer models. The newer ones look horrendously gay and boring. Personally, I loved almost every car out there pre 2010, but cannot stand modern cars. I remember an episode of Top Gear caught on to it in around 2011ish.
When my time to be an adult came, I realized that the whole "flashy car" scene was long gone by atleast 10 years. Where as before 2010/11ish, you had insane communities (Rally, F1, Monster Jams, Crash derbys, drag racing, street racing, kids go-karts etc). Wasn't anything to overthink aswell, as it was the norm.
But yeah, the old car world. Looks a ton better than the current trash.

$5.00 a fkin gallon of gasoline and one hour commutes one way to work for the average middle income earner happened.
I traded in my S2000 for a fkin Prius because sitting in traffic for 1.5 hours on my way home from work and shifting every 3 seconds really sucked the life out of me. That and I was filling up my tank twice a week with premium. Oh and my insurance was ungodly expensive.
Still miss that car though.

Yeah haha, it just wasn't practical. Fuel costs were nicer back then aswell (whole other story), but overall, those cars being badass were a pretty good tradeoff.
What car are u in now? Sadly I'd assume some baseline hatchback/family car.

Car manufacturers are favoring aesthetics, fuel economy, and moar lights and shiny things on the center console. Nobody gives a fuk about performance and the like any more. Hell the last few new cars I have driven had god awful visibility for some reason. People are getting taller all the time but my 6'2" body was too big for the sedans I have driven. The top edge of the front windshield is parallel with my brow and I need to hunch down to see out the fkcing thing, srs.
Plus I used to work for a manufacturer that made OEM parts for automakers, and all of the automakers were putting their efforts into SUVs and the like. No coupes or performance sedans.
I still drive a 2003 as a result of this

It's basically a requirement that cars become more environmentally friendly, so that means economical engines and better aerodynamics. Naturally with better aerodynamics, cars are going to look like water droplets and less aggressive.
I agree - cars looking more ghey and trucks are going to skyrocket in prices due to environmental standards.
Plus, the younger generations are being brainwashed into believing climate change is solely their fault so they don't see cars the same way anymore. They just want basic A-B commuters that are economical.

Here is something that I am not sure that people ever take into account. Around 2009-2010 the gov had a great idea to help their automaker buddies. "Cash for Clunkers" came and all older vehicles including their viable parts were destroyed so everyone can just buy new and help the auto industries. Think about it, when is the last time you've seen a 92 Ford Escort? People willingly gave up some great vehicles to get downpayment for the mega depreciating horseshyt "infotainment" system and electric seats.
Everyone kinda has their political soap boxes and this one is in my backpack. It bothers the hell out of me. Not only that, it was also a failure under its own premise

Turns out “Cash for Clunkers” was a clunker according to economists at Texas A&M University who found the 2009 fiscal stimulus program designed to increase spending on new vehicles had the exact opposite effect, costing the automobile industry billions in lost revenue.

Lol I still own my Dodge Neon SRT-4 that I’ve had since I was 16. It has way too much sentimental value for me to ever sell. It’s definitely not my daily driver but it reminds me of the good ole days (srs).

Cars are literally at peak
You have minivans that have more HP over the muscle cars of the past
You have 700hp SUVs from the OEM
A v6 Camry has 300hp
A 2010 Mustang GT v8 had 315 hp
My everyday SUV has over 400hp

LOL @ total lack of knowledge. Current performance cars are better than theyever have been.
Go run a 2020 GT500 against a 2010 and tell me what happens. Go run a base C6 against a base C8 and tell me what happens.

Cars lost their soul nowadays for sure. Unless you're getting a mustang, Camaro, challenger, or Corvette. When I was young I beat the hell out of every turd I drove. It didn't matter what I was driving. Now that I'm an adult, I have been more responsible with my vehicles. I remember me and my buddy's doing donuts in the home Depot parking lot at 1am in my Econoline van. I slammed into a couple shopping carts and went home with a busted out passenger window

Yeah, there were1k cars but not many.
Today, go buy a mustang gt, put tires on it and 11s all day. Throw a turbo on it and you're running 10s, 9s and even 8s.
This doesn't include red-eyes, gt500s, Tesla, etc.

Naturally with better aerodynamics, cars are going to look like water droplets and less aggressive.
I agree - cars looking more ghey and trucks are going to skyrocket in prices due to environmental standards.
Plus, the younger generations are being brainwashed into believing climate change is solely their fault so they don't see cars the same way anymore. They just want basic A-B commuters that are economical.
