Have been using Android for as long as I can remember.. since the first Note 1. I'm on the Note 10+ right now.

New Apple iphone 13 just came out and thinking of switching since it's only $100 to upgrade my phone to the pro max.

Pros/cons of apple vs android? Any ragrets from folks who switched? I like the customizations I can do on my Note, but it's not the biggest deal at the end of the day since it's all just cosmetic. I use my phone a lot for work (emails, calls, teams meetings sometimes) so that's priority.

Iphones have slightly better display and camera, but not by much. You would need to use an apple id to purchase from the apple market I think

I debated going to apple with my new phone after many many years of android notes as well(Note 3 and Note 8). My biggest factor was privacy and I hate google and have shifted everything to non-google(email, search, etc.). But the fact that I had to use itunes to load("sync") media onto my phone instead of the simple drag and drop on android made me pick up the new note ultra.

Honestly I can't tell the difference at all in camera quality with all of these new phone releases lol

True. Now if it was a computer, I'd never go with Apple because of compatibility issues with a lot of the programs I use.

What do you use as your search engine if not Google? I heard that they're going to discontinue the Note line.. sucks cause I would wait a few more months for a new release. I definitely prefer the slim look of the Note more.. iphones are so damn bulky. Have always liked the stylus too. Don't use it often but it's nice to know that it's there if I ever feel inclined to use it lol

Iphones are superior in literally every way & now come with a 1TB storage option

Just went from Android to it the other day; I think the last iphone I owned before this was a 3

Got tired of the android's OS breaking with every update, brb apps constantly getting fatal errors because poverty Linux builds

Yes Apple makes you pay for things that used to come standard, like ear buds

If you like the note go check out the leaked galaxy s22 design. It's supposed to have a similar note design and an S pen. If you can wait until early next year that'd prob be your best bet.

I rarely use the iphone.

Android just gives you more options.
For example, there are so many features and apps available for android but not for IOS.
For example, Youtube danced to listen to youtube in background without premium subscription

I switched years ago for a generation and switched back for similar reasons. I'm also trying to pick the lesser of evils and Google is the worst in every way, but the apple phone was such a clunky pain in the ass I never went back.

I've used their computers at work and I've come to appreciate a lot of things about them, particularly the OS, but the phone wasn't great.

Apple is a million times better quality.

Peak tech stats, building your own OS, whatever b.s. is probably an extra keystroke of something on Apple. Apple also will not break constantly or require lots of other maintenance and works 98% as well while 3000% easier.

don't understand why someone would ever say iPhones are superior objectively

that being said, I wouldn't say that Androids are way better either

however, android has a lot of features/apps, it is not a closed-knit ecosystem, cheaper (still cheaper than any claims that IPhones last longer), Linux kernel is the base for many stable applications

UI specifically, is about preference and what you are used to

Like, not only am I using an Android but I am using the Chinese brand Xiaomi - literally fits every purpose with zero issues. I am even an advanced user who uses it for programming

On the point of an ecosystem - you can use different unaffiliated apps for everyday purposes or you can sync everything across Google's products (Gmail, Chrome Android, Google Keep, Drive, Office Suite, Calendar, Pay). This is what I do because my productivity is better and I have access to everything synced on demand.

I have not seen good evidence that Apple does not use user data for monetization purposes (not like that is objectively bad in the first place)

All comes down to preference really...at this point the difference in actual tech/hardware is hardly noticeable at the flagship level. I was an avid android user until iphone 6s when I made the switch and loved it so much I'll be iphone from here on out. Have the regular 11 pro right now (don't like the bulk of the Maxs) and love it. Might've just been unlucky but I always had issues with every android I've had and have never had a single issue with my iphones, apple watch, and airpods pro. The security is an added bonus. Also the customization and stuff with Androids was one of the main reasons I was hesitant to switch but I came to the realization that it was all pretty gimmicky and I didn't care that much about it...don't miss it and never think about it. iOS is clean and smooth as fuk.

My sister just got the Samsung Fold 3 tho and that thing is niiiice

I use duckduckgo, but I'll be honest it's inferior to google search. Nah they initially announced that they would discontinue the Note line but they changed their mind and already announced there will be a new Note next year. No new Note this year because they released the Fold 3 and did not want to release another flagship to overshadow. I like how you can use the pen as a remote for taking pictures while you're away from the phone.

By the way, the new note ultra has a giant camera sensor but because of it the depth of field is weird/shallow so all macro shots like when you take a pic of documents get blurry. A known issue on these phones.

I agree, I have an iphone X as well and it just doesn't feel as natural as android.

Agreed. Android just feels more logical and natural.

Thanks for sharing. It seems like there will be a new note for 2022 as well.

Apple quality is the best, but not without its issues. I've replaced the keyboard on my macbook pro 3 times now. My note 3 lasted 5 years and my note 8 just under 4 with a $49 OEM screen glass and battery change. The new note 20 ultra build quality is fantastic.

Apple doesn't use the data for ads, but you bet they record and use it. They also recently announced that they'd scan the phones of every user for child porn(they digitalize your pics into a formula then compare the formula to a known formulized database of child porn) for which they received a lot of backlash.

I think iphone cameras get touted as superior, but if you are comparing flagship phones I'm not sure that argument holds up. Apple probably holds a slight lead in overall performance considering the tight control they have on hardware & software combo.

I'll probably be on Android forever, though. I like to customize my phone and use open source apps. I disable a lot of the default Google stuff. brb have 3 different keyboards installed on my phone.

There are other nuanced things that I'm aware of like apps not being able to run in the background on iphones unless they are apple (e.g. if you use a cloud storage app other than apple, you won't be able to sync files unless the app is in the foreground).

In terms of privacy, I don't think Apple is better than Google, just a smaller scale data collector.

I like to customize and tinker. I like freedom and openness. I don't like closed and proprietary. I'm not a sheep. I want to make the phone mine. Hence - I choose Android. Direct from Google. Pixel 6 Pro.

Why would you go to poverty apple.

Aren't you a girl. The Samsung Z flip 3 has an okay camera but not the greatest out there. However it has that portability with the flipping screen which seems to be very popular with women. There's also a cover touch screen display that lets you check notifications, music controls, widgets and can also be a viewfinder when you want to snap a selfie. Pretty neat.

Iphones have better camera SOFTWARE, not hardware. They run filters and settings to make images look 'better' than they are. At the ends of the day tho, for basic pictures, appearing better IS better, unless you're a professional.

Other than that, I think Android is better overall. User experience is easier, and I despise that Apple controls literally everything you can do on your phone. It's crazy. Switched fron Apple to Android 5 years ago and it was the best decision I could have made.

I have one of each, personal and work. They both do things well. For personal I stick with the android.
