There's a lot more going into a graph than just looking at numbers OP. Your graph shows vaccines clearly not having an effect on cases whatsoever, and it would be even worse if everyone who was double vaccinated would still get tested if they get sick too. As far as the deaths go, most of these cases are in a younger demographic hence you would expect a much lower death rate. Despite this the deaths are higher than the same time last year. Another obvious factor is that the mortality rate of a virus will go down as a large amount of the population acquires natural immunity as well as people who were vulnerable dying off.

Meanwhile Scotland at an insane 30% excess mortality with nearly 90% of above 18 being fully vaccinated, and not due to covid deaths. Wonder why.

In the end this virus is no more dangerous than the flu to people who are not in risk groups, and the vaccine does not stop transmission, which means there is absolutely NO reason for any healthy person to get this useless vaccine.

Like you’re actually interested in the academic/experimental side of engineering? Eye roll.

Unless you’re working for the National Labs, maybe NNSA, Boeing, etc., and even then most of that chit you don’t need a PhD unless you want to become a Director.

But if you do work in the experimental fields that’s badass. But even at SpaceX you don’t NEED one.

Experimentalist, and not interested in doing BS work as a technician. Currently deciding between academia, or more likely a few years industry before doing a startup

Have actually done an internship at a national lab lol

also, besides the pay, PhD lifestyle is goat if you have the right advisor/project (super flexible hours, essentially unlimited vacation time, extremely independent work, somewhat interesting work)

on the other hand.. social distancing/mask wearing has essentially stopped, so you can't claim the vaccine has no effect on transmission.. we don't know.

what is clear is that deaths are 85% LESS than the peak.. and 10-20% of the elderly and vulnerable have refused to get vaccinated..
