Life of a not made it brah

I'm now 31 years old, with only a couple grand in the bank.

Compared that to my peers who had the same opportunties I have not made it.

Sure I can blame a childhood back in China where my grandfather physically abused me to comfort my efforts and lack of distinction, but the truth is I made my choices and can blame no one else but myself

I'm the same age. More money than that but I barely work and have zero self-discipline. Today I've rotted away at least ten hours online. I don't even enjoy it. I just have no self-discipline at all.

It's been a bad life.

I'm 26 and witnessing the discipline slip away. Graduated college 4 years ago, got a career started, got some good certifications, got promotions and moved companies, and have pretty much just stopped progressing. My certifications are gonna expire soon if I don't study some more and take some more tests. I make 6 figures for the first time ever now and coincidentally have the lowest motivation and worst discipline my whole career has ever seen.

It carries into my diet too. Although I try to eat healthy a lot of times, I've lost patience for cooking and cleaning.

Gambling a little too much with stocks and crypto because I wanna hit it big and fast forward a few years financially speaking.

I at least go to the gym pretty often though.

I remember in college days I didn't feel a need to have fun every day, or give myself hours of leisure on a daily basis. I was content with doing work/studying/gym/chores with no other time but to sleep.

Speaking of sleep my sleep schedule is pharked. Ideally I want to sleep by 1, wake up by 8 or 9. Yet I find myself staying up till 3-3:30.

Need to get control of my life again. At least I succeeded at Sober October.

Dear diary.

That's the thing though, I have a mortgage to my name that needs to be paid. So now I'm really deep in the hole.

26 and out of motivation. Just don't see much in the future that's worth working for.

Sex? Women don't want me. Got that confirmed at Thirsty Thursday tonight.

Children? Won't have them due to birth defects I don't wanna pass on.

House? I need $100,000 down for a 1br condo in the desert. Then it's 30 years of wage cuckery to keep up the payments on the other $400k.

Early retirement? Even today, $2 million is pry the minimum you'd want to have, and central bank inflation is going to push that up. It's just out of reach.

Start a business? My expertise is in a mature field with trillion dollar players.

Like what am I really out here working towards. Lowering my golf handicap? I'm a loner wagie who owns nothing and will own nothing. I don't see how anything changes between now and death.

31 is Half of my age.

Tell me, if Fate promises you another 31-year, can't imagine what's the problem here.

You will be fine, my friend.

It's not a big deal

Just stop comparing yourself to others and use this as motivation, can only go up from here

it's not over! yet!

Steps to Success

1. Set clear-cut, defined, lofty goals, with specific time deadlines, and let everyone know what they are.
2. Always be realistic, skeptical, and never too optimistic. Banish wishful and hopeful thinking. Hope is not a strategy.
3. Get your priorities straight and live them every day.
4. Focus on actions, not words.
5. Always stay organized. Utilize a Calendar and a To-Do List.
6. Always stay focused on completing your goals.
7. Figure out the things that you need to get the job done and get them.
8. Utilize ALL available resources.
9. Prepare - and make your life easier.
10. Take care of the downside and the upside will take care of itself.
11. Maximize your options.
12. Deliver the goods. Just get the job done - no matter what it takes.
13. Don’t be afraid to take smart chances - and educated risks - sometimes you just got to go for it. Fortune favors the bold and the brave!
14. Plan your work and work your plan.
15. Do tasks as soon as they hit you, then they never build up and overwhelm you.
16. Continually monitor and evaluate your progress in accomplishing your goals and take corrective action if needed.
17. Use whatever angle you have.
18. Realize that there’s a back door into anything, but few take advantage of it. Use the back door if the front door is locked!
19. Don’t make excuses for your success or failure - realize that it’s all up to you.
20. Understand that everything has a price - nothing in this world is free. Success does not come without sacrifice.
21. Understand that nobody can do it for you - you have to do it yourself.
22. Surround yourself with successful people. Especially those who are more successful than you. Avoid the losers.
23. Learn from others who are where you want to be. COPY from them! Don’t try to reinvent the wheel! COPY from those that are successful!
24. Be very careful of who you trust.
25. Be loyal and good to those who have been loyal and good to you.
26. Help and teach others along the way to be successful.
27. Get ready for change. It’s coming whether you like it or not – sometimes how and when you least expect it. Anticipate and prepare for it.
28. Understand that life will throw you curveballs – it’s all part of the game. You will be humbled at some point. We are all humbled at some point.
29. Know when to cut your losses.
30. Know when to pivot.
31. Ask all the questions – don’t go into anything blind.
32. If you get knocked down, get up and keep fighting!
33. Keep an open mind on everything. Closed minds never learn.
34. Learn from your mistakes and don’t repeat them!
35. Always think about the future but try to enjoy and appreciate the moment. Life is short.
