I read that sub sometimes out of boredom, and they have a few good points, but most of them have no in-demand job skills, which is why they barely eek by, or go perpetually into debt.

They ones who make sense basically don;t mind working reasonably, but expect their work to pay off for them, and it just doesn;t when you compare their wages with the basic cost of living.

In order to properly budget themselves, housing need to be one weeks take home pay, but it's usually two or more. The cost of vehicles and medical care are also factors.

I wish I didn't have to work.
I'm currently doing research and working 7 days a week on most weeks ( averaging 60hr/week when you factor in commute )

I just hope to make enough money so I can retire by 45 when I still have some vitality left to enjoy life.

And those 12 years aren't all that great most of the time. I understand the sentiment, it would be nice if we were in some kind of Star Trek socialist utopia where you basically worked just for something to do, but we aren't there. At least I have some useful skills where I don't have to worry about eeking by.

The insane growth of that subreddit should indicate to all of you just how fast inflation is about to pick up. Did all those dumfuks manage to save enough to live comfortably forever? No. And government/companies rely on people working to make money. Prices are going to get unreasonable to the point it'll force a lot of people back into the workforce.

This, inflation is out of control at this point. Even the fake gov numbers are at 5-6%. It's a vicious cycle. The low wage workers are dropping out because they can't get ahead, and as they do inflation spirals even higher as fewer people are producing goods and services and living off freshly minted fed funny money.

Personally it seems like mostly the lazy people are leaving. Go work almost anywhere and you'll find there is almost unlimited OT available. My income without investments has gone up 25% this year without investments from the raises/bonuses I've received at work. Some of the real hustlers I've got employed are working 6 or 7 days a week every week since June and they've probably doubled their income from 2020 which was already a solid year.

We might just end up being a country similar to India where 15% of the country is doing well/wealthy and the rest are dirt fuking poor with basically no middle class.
