Just got referred to as “they” at work

JFL.

One of my co-workers just referred to me as “they” in an email, rather than “he.” I look 100% heterosexual masculine man. Never once implied I prefer clown world pronouns.

What strange times were living in...

You should get offended and say they are implying your sexuality might be fluid and it’s an inappropriate and offensive pronoun to direct at an alpha male such as yourself.

Or if you want to play it safe just hit em back with “they is not my preferred pronoun, please refer to me as he/him”

This is how you beat them at their own game. Make your preferred pronouns long as phuck. Also add in a few obscure letters that aren't on most keyboards (perhaps something in the Cyrillic alphabet).

Be like "bitch you better be callin' me RhoSigma4386to the second power".

Really make 'em work for it.

I used to have an old black lady as a neighbor. She always called me "sugar booger". I lived there for 2 years and don't think she ever knew my actual name. LOL

A buddy of mine was in the hospital maybe a month ago, every single worker there had name tags on with their preferred pronouns.

You should *reply all* and eviscerate him/her/they so that every coworker sees the email. Sound as offended and righteous as you can because that's how one of them would react if someone assigned them the incorrect pronoun.

would be funny if all the guys in an office started referring to each other as "her" in the emails just to piss off the sloots at work.

we live in clown world, might as well make it funny.

They also have a "diversity committee" made up almost exclusively of members of the "LGBTQIA+BBQKFCBBCETC" crowd that meets a couple times a month to bitch and moan about cisgender straight white guys, and more recently, how they are mad because they think people aren't wearing their workplace mandatory face diapers tightly enough.
20 odd years back I thought it bizarre my office actually had a car park committee(all female) & left their work piling up once or twice a week to sit in a room discussing who could park where for 60-90 minutes, the problems with customers from the supermarket next door parking there & even more so that the bosses actually let them get away with it. Is it morally acceptable to insist everyone puts 'Dr' in front of my name if I identify as a doctor? And if not, why not?

I hate bring called "Sir". Lol.

Or any other word that implies I am older; etc.

Referring to me by my first name is fine...

I even told my sister her kids don't need to address me as "uncle,". She didn't go for the idea; saying they have learn respect; etc. The kids are only 5 and 6; maybe when they're older I'll tell him they don't need to.

The best response is to act totally ignorant of this insane world they are living in. Just reply back that that they are mistaken and it was just you, and nobody else who completed the task (or whatever context this is). When they try to explain it to you, listen patiently, then just say "nah that ain't for me, but thanks".

Guaranteed rustles, and nobody can even say you did anything wrong

I used to work at a factory for about a year awhile back before getting into my current job. Said factory has been a local factory that's done various types of production for like literally a hundred years or some chit in the same location. By the time I got hired on, they were already turning to more corperate bs, having stupid pointless "meetings" and "committees' and chit to satisfy stupid HR requirements.

Most of their "committees" revolved around safety oriented matters. Made enough sense, even if the "committees" were a totally uncessarry gimmick that weren't accomplishing much besides having something that looks good to show was supposedly being done to some corperate pricks. They eventually started making everyone join some stupid committees. I wound up being on a "stretch team committee" where a few of us met up montly to discuss the basic stretches management had us do for a couple minutes before each shift.

One guy I worked with got stuck on some "cleaning committee" or some chit where they were to talk about ways to keep the machines cleaner or some bs. As part of the committee projects, some photos of workers were taken showing what they were up to. Dude had a pic taken if him where he was subtly, yet still pretty obviously giving the camera the finger with a huge smile on his face. Somehow, HR/management didn't notice/care, and they let the pic get posted at a machine on the front of a pamplet they made with cleaning tips lmao.

At the very least you need to go to HR, if not the police. They're gonna make you play the game eventually, might as well play to win. Personally I keep 7 different signatures in rotation, and see how many different pronouns I can force someone to use in an email chain. That's called gender-fluidity.
