Nothing wrong with classical liberals. Hell, I know a ton of democrats who are constantly buying new guns, going to bars without vaccine passports and just being normal. Do we disagree on some fundamental things, yeah, but we respect each others right to disagree. If everyone agreed on everything life sure would be boring.

The problem is people in both sides who think you cant disagree or you're wrong and should be fixed.

It happened when media separated itself and stopped reporting facts. Now you can log right into an echo chamber full of people who don't challenge your views. The best conversations happen when people challenge your views and you realize where you were right and where you might be wrong. Gives you something to ponder.

I think the overreaction to COVID by his own government (UK) and ours (USA) is what started red-pilling him. I also think he renunciation of his youthful atheism/hedonism (some years back), confronting his addiction issues, and fatherhood have given him a perspective beyond his own needs/wants.
