Atleast you're still green. I'm $7,144 in the red YTD. Was closer to $10k at the beginning of the week. End of Jan killed me... was up $9-10k the first half of Jan. $20k swing downward was a rough ride. lol.

PUTS are going to pay off in the coming months, imo.

Nicely done. This week I rolled my $15 Feb Sofi CSP down and out to April $12.5. Sold a fair chunk of Sofi $17.5 calls for May for $1 and some March $15 for $1 on different days to try and soak the high IV premiums. Still holding 400 shares at a cost basis of $20 lmao. Got 15 calls at $17.5 (CB $3.30) for Jan 2023 as well. We will see how I end up if I can manage to start collecting premium on both sides and hopefully we get a breakout to the upside at some point.

I bought F puts for earnings that were x2 gainers for me.

Looking to enter more ford puts for further out. Looking at SPOT puts as well.

Premiums on SHOP are amazing, but the ****ing thing is a falling knife, can’t wait for this thing to stabilize so I can run the wheel on it, But then again, premiums may drop.

Want to sell cash secured weekly put on TSLA, maybe $900 strike?

Wtf at premiums on nnox. But dangerous.

SHOP & MELI are two stocks that I feel are great long-term holds. They have dropped a lot so they should eventually be good buys.

UPST ended up going from $105ish to $147 after earnings, then settled at $133 by close. My question is regarding IV crush - is my assumption/explanation below correct?

And finally, given that my OTM calls are now ITM and therefore have both intrinsic and extrinsic value, even if there is IV crush, that wouldn't affect my profits too much since there is so much intrinsic value in the contracts?
The most important thing to note is your calls are not ITM. Profit is not ITM. For calls ITM refers to strike at our below current stock price. So ITM would mean stock is 185 or higher for 185c to be itm. I would guess delta will be about 8 or less by open.

Regarding IV I would think it will drop back to last week's iv by Monday. Your other comments about higher IV at open are correct.

Buying a strangle to open is probably one of the worst trades you could make. If you have any profit in it at all I would close it immediately. Especially still being more than 25% away from your call strike price with a week to go and your puts already being worthless.

I am not a financial advisor. Your decisions are your own to make.

Play was actually fine because this stock is idiotic.

Problem was going too far OTM on puts and calls. Still probably got profit.

I played barely itm call month out and short this friday put protection OTM just in case.

Implied move for UPST was 26%

From what I understand if delta really is 82, then IV wont have as much of an effect. If it does drop back to last week's IV, doesnt seem that bad. I was expecting something like a 20-40% drop.

IV at close was 187 which is a 41% increase from a week ago. Maybe that will be the drop... which means the profit calculator will be accurate.

Good info
ToS must be a showing delta upside down. Current delta is 11 on those calls. As for iv I never try to make sense of it other than is it higher than historical average and whether it is higher or lower than when I bought it. Also agree with carbon your strikes were too far otm

Tbh I typically look at IV as how many people are pushing the price of the option up. If it’s over 100 there is pretty good interest. If it’s greater than 200 I figure it must be some sort of meme.

[img]https://i.imgur.com/m5C0bpI.png[img]
I'm glad it worked out for him, but that doesn't change that buying a strangle is probably one of (if not THE) lowest probability trade you can make. That's especially true at earnings. I wouldn't be putting that trade on in any stock.

dam dude you had a banger of a week last week!

I've bought a couple of tsla puts to hedge against market uncertainty. Their exposure to China shyt seems like it would be enough given their market cap that anything they say about being against the west could drop them a couple %.

Sold more Sofi CCs. Now fully sold on both sides. Hoping it'll sit between $12.5-$15 or so for the next few months

GL on puts. I have a feeling we see some volatility in Tsla over the course of the next week or so ending in another dip. But I think the money is going to be short contracts. IV is above historical average so whales will be selling contracts imo.
