It appears to me the forward forces have cut access to the capital cities and forced the remaining Ukraine army to push towards Kiev where Russia will attack the inbound support and have several key battles in the U shapes left open in the encirclements.

There are too many forces to be attacked from the rear if they encircled completely. There is a cone for the Ukrainians to be forced into.

I get that Russians are bad guys. I do. But this was over before it started. There have been more than a thousand precision strikes against military infrastructure. The goal is to demilitarize Ukraine which cannot be defended. Forces have not been the focus and its looking like there is a shift in that regard with at least a couple hundred reported dead in garrison.
