Police Departments need to release more information like this.

brb, vast majority of crimes are crimes of opportunity, so lock your fukin car doors. Don't leave your purse out in plain view on the passenger seat. Don't leave your vehicle running in front of your house when you go inside because you forgot something.

Seems simple but that covers the majority of the property crime reports I end up taking.

I wouldnt worry, your chances of being shot in Los Angeles are super low since carrying concealed weapons must be approved by the sherrif and you must prove to him a "convincing cause for the permit" such as only if your life is in danger. That means that only people whom are pre approved by police even have guns in the city so its unlikely they would shoot you. This isnt like those dangerous constitutional carry states where you are likely to be blown to smithereens by some gun loving redneck far right extremist. Its very safe with good gun control laws.

Only about 10 years ago or so The Beverly Hills Police Department used to pull over any black driver entering the area and try and find an excuse to search their person and their car. Home owners used to call the police if they ever saw a black woman or black man walking on the sidewalk in a residential area in Beverly Hills as well saying that "A suspicious person was casing the area. I guess they must have stopped doing that now.

Yeah no chit. 95% of crime can be avoided like this (some of it easier said than done):

- Take basic precautions as you say
- Keep situational awareness, avoid sketchy situations & people
- Don't live in a high crime area
- Don't hang around with criminals
- Walk away from dickheads instead of brawling
