I was listening to planet money podcast last night (NPR propaganda), and they were interviewing an economist who said a “soft landing without a recession” is possible

This 1st quarter contraction was before the fed raised rates by a quarter percent and haven’t even started QT

It hasn’t even started and we’re going into recession, and NPR telling us a soft landing is possible

It seems the “experts” are going one of two ways with this:

1. Everyone was predicting this one since last quarter was so strong. (Hint: nobody was predicting it)

2. This is actually because our economy is doing so strongly, we’re importing a lot which subtracts from GDP

This is the Cliffs of Cliffs graph right here. Stock prices have stopped following organic GDP growth for over a decade, and are now fueled purely by currency debasement. If the debasement ever stops... say a central bank needs to fight inflation or something... they could fall as low as that GDP floor.

I don't think the debasement can stop at this point though. Our govt is way too broke to borrow money at non-printer prices.
