Srs question: should you intervene if someone is going to injure themselves in gym?

I’m not talking about 2 inch rom or pointless exercises. Just this week I’ve seen:

-guy jerking legs to full extension on leg press with 5 plates
-young kids bouncing the bar off their sternum on bench press
-scared cat deadlifts

If these go wrong I’m thinking lifelong injury (maybe not the bench one idk)

Usually I try to just ignore and focus on what I’m doing but in the back of my mind I’m waiting for the snap/scream

Should I just MYOB or should I say something?

Srs replies only please

"wow the way you jerk the leg press really jiggles my balls"

"you guys ever been defibrillated?"

"bet you can't deadlift with a straight back pussy"

you gotta help people without letting them know youre helping, otherwise they won't adopt the advise out of pride.

Just make the gym put up a warning sign if you're so concerned.

You’ve got to soften the blow. Say something like “I know someone who really injured themselves doing it that way” or add in a “I’m not trying to tell you what to do but…”. Then peace out and do your thing. It’s helpful and non confrontational so they shouldn’t mind

You have to ask yourself 2 questions?

1) If I don't intervene, is what they do going to be funny? If the answer is yes, then enjoy the show.

2) Is there any upside to me intervening? The answer is almost always no. In most cases they will nod and make agreeing noises whilst thinking "what a twat" and go right back to doing it the way they were.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

judgement call, if someone's about to injure themselves, i'd say you should. if it's not an going to be an immediate injury and you want to help, you could small talk with them to determine whether they'd be open or just ask if they want constructive criticism.

If you want to be a genuinely good person, sure. Of course, they might ignore you, get confrontational, or just straight think you’re an annoying a**hole, but no good deed goes unpunished.

Otherwise, let them drown.

Leave them be. If this was 10 years or so ago, then yeah I’d say give them some advice.
Now? Nah. You’ll likely end up on TikTok for being a “creeper”

Say something like "I hurt myself doing that awhile ago..." even if it's not true so they don't feel silly

I times this x2. Never know how people act in 2022 now.

You tell them, "Nice hair" and they end up stabbing you. Nah man, I don't like sharp objects in me.

I let people be.

If you’re clearly a more advanced lifter than the person in question then yes, also depending on how the person looks, their body language and facial expressions etc, it might not be worth your time as they’d just be ungrateful and defensive.
Remember the guy that gave up? Neither does anybody else.

If and only if that threat of injury presents a clear and present danger of severe bodily harm to the individual or those around them. If they are DLing in such a way that they simply collecting miles for an all-expenses getaway to Snap City, quarter- or half-squating where they are putting tremenodous strain on their knees due to poor ROM, slamming the bar down on their chest during bench, or other similar "form" infractions that are all but guaranteed to be terribly damaging to their body in the long-term, but unlikely to cause major damage or incidental injury in the extremely short-term (AKA while I am in the same room as them and therefore bear some minor responsibility for seeing them lifting irresponsibly and doing nothing to prevent them from continuing), then I let them be.

Even if the advice you are providing is genuinely helpful, and you present it in such a way that makes it clear that you are not trying to bully or big league the person to whom you are offering it, people are stupid prideful kunts and the brah will 1000% of the time take it as a personal slight and your attempting to mog him rather than a sikkunt trying to guide a lesser brah to the holy light of Chadly physiques and unlimited hole access.

These injuries keep me in business. But you should absolutely warn them. Some people don't want to be helped.

If I was lifting in a commercial gym, which I don't anymore...99% of the time I would not say anything. It's just not worth it. The rare 1% is usually a younger guy who is actually strong and has potential, but is going to hit a hard wall because of ****ty technique. So I give a compliment "Hey you're lifting a lot of weight" and then follow up with the criticism "Consider doing xyz to improve in the future." And people are generally receptive to this because my physique and the weights on my barbells speak for themselves.
