Most terrifying death?
In before that article about the cave diverZ
9/11 imagine having to make that choice between suffocating from smoke and jumping off 100th floor. Fuark. I thank God I’m spared that.
Nose diving airplane. Scary as fuark.

Drowning has always been a major fear of mine. No air seems like one of the worst 60 seconds a human could experience.
Being on fire same as drowning like above.
I'd think being eaten alive and whole by something would also be a really fkd last few minutes. Imagine you're still conscious while being swallowed and no amount of struggle or shouting or anything is going to help. Just pepper your anoos for a few minutes of sheer terror then you probably suffocate while thinking of your loved ones and all the regrets you have and how you'd do anything to be free from that situation you're in.
Those are all moments where everyone finds God.

anything involving burning
probably most disturbing video i've ever seen (worse than any cartel murder, and ive seen them all) is one of a young couple stuck in a burning car crushed between two trucks, screaming for several minutes on end as the whole thing torches

You wake up and find yourself in a tight space with complete darkness.
You scream for help, but no one can hear.
You start panicking realizing that ironically there's just enough oxygen for you to last before you go mad.
Do you think finding a cigarette lighter in your pocket would help?

Other bad ways
Brazen Bull
Burning at the stake
Wearing breathing apparatus, then getting pulled below the ocean surface at a rate of 1500m per day. You would either die of dehydration, get eaten by sharks, get stung by jellyfish, die of shock...all the while getting further and further from the surface and everything get darker and darker.
Buried alive.
Blasted out into space in a suit, just to float around in the void until natural causes took you.

Gotta be drowning or burning to death.

But yeah, anything that involves being stuck like in a cave or buried alive, where you're in the dark and no one can hear you or even knows of your fate. At least stuck in a cave someone will eventually find you, but buried alive? There's a good chance no one will ever know of your last days of suffering.
As for historical executions, last ones I'd ever want to endure would be crucifixion or scaphism. As bad as burning alive or getting mauled by lions or sharks sounds like, at least it's pretty fast compared to the former two.

eaten alive by a bear. they arent like big cats that snap your neck first, they just start eating as they pin you down.
at least with a shark attack you actually have a pretty good shot of them biting you and them leaving you alone. At the very least they will jerk you hard enough (hnng) to snap your neck or spine first, or you will drown before getting eaten too much.
