Just watched Avatar again. Visuals still hold up great in 4k. Not a fan of the hippie tree people winning at the end, rather see the bad ass mechs and terrens win. But it's definitely a groundbreaking film way ahead of it's time. Plus it made a boatload of money.

Glengarry Glen Ross

The Hunt for Red October

Not sure if “best of all time”, but I can watch either of these anytime they’re on

In my opinion I don't think there's a "perfect" or "greatest" movie out there.

I will say though Gladiator, City of God, and Schindlers list are 9/10 movies...I'm sure there's more, but that's just off the top of my head.

Also, I tend to categorize movies so It's very hard for me to compare an epic comedy movie like Superbad to a movie like American Beauty.

Godfather 1 is better than Part 2. I didn't like the annoying flashbacks, they ruined the flow of the movie.

Still holds up after 80 years
Still a beloved movie
Will still be watched by children everywhere when all the movies mentioned in this thread turn 80 and disappear.

The original Jurassic Park holds up well for me

Special effects far ahead of it's time and I've rewatched it so many times it never gets old

First movie I ever saw in theatres when I was a kid and when the trex emerges for the first time it was bone chilling

I went to film school so I have absolute credence.

There are only 3 perfect movies ever created that has no flaw:

1. Jurassic Park
2. The Last Samurai
3. A Goofy Movie

My personal favorite though is Tron: Legacy not for story just for its art direction and soundtrack.
Honorable mention is "The Wind Rises" by Hayao Miyazaki.

Batman Forever

It wasn’t as realistic as the Michael Keaton versions, but wasn’t too implausible like the George Clooney/Arnold Schwarzenegger version. It was like someone took a comic book and made it into a movie.
