I want to give back to the misc because it has given me so MANY life lessons in the past 3 decades.

The best way to go up the corporate ladder is lying in your resume with class and intelligence. Pretty much make up job titles and progression at companies u did work at to showcase progression and so u can command better positions/salary at new work places.

Example:

2015-2017: Amazon SDE 1
2017-2018: Amazon SDE II
2018-2010: Amazon SDE 3
2020-2022: Principal SDE at random company

Background checks only review employer and employment dates

Lying is fine unless you're in a skilled position, like a lot of tech and have to actually perform a function.

not at all

most people just have a job title and company + dates history

not many people put bullet points of what they did on X job on Linkedin, that is only for CV


and whilst I am not sure if lying about "intermittent roles" during your current one is a good idea (what op seems to suggest), lying in the bullet points describing your job (within reason) is literally a must srs

those bullet points are unverifiable

simple example:

if you are a data analyst but more of a subhuman admin type where you mostly use Excel but want to switch to data science or biz intelligence/analytics you can lie that instead of excel you used Python, ML packages, Tableau (if the job u are targeting has these keywords)

Obviously you would have to showcase some knowledge but in my scenario you would have done some self-study given that you want to move into roles using that **** anyway



Some more honest person would present it like this "Look I am a data analyst data crunching with Excel but I did this self-study on Python over the weekends and I am very motivated" -> they dont give a **** and would pick someone with direct usage

So you declare total war on this behaviour, state that they are enemies of Europe and the Aryan race and fight fire with fire by equalize yourself through these means

Many companies give more than one interview including a technical interview. You'll be asked to elaborate on certain things mentioned in your resume as well as asked technical questions. It's usually easy to tell when someone doesn't possess the skillset their resume claims.

Any corporate company that is legit verifies the info you put on there. Clearly you're still home in mommy's basement

If you say you have an MBA, they ask for proof. If you say you are certified in x,y,z, they ask for documentation.

We pay a third party to trawl through candidates social media and one of the interview stages is with a psychologist.

Added to which, for anybody beyond junior roles, one of us will know somebody who know's somebody where you worked and they will obtain an unoffical reference.

Nah I know for a fact that some companies don’t do employer verifications it really depends on the company and how hr does their background

I dont think OP mentioned anything about saying you have an mba or certificate when you dont

His basic example was if you work in software engineering at amazon you can showcase fake job change within (not saying u work for another company in-between)

OP's stuff is more sugarcoating than anything which quite frankly a lot of people do


Easiest but high yielding sugarcoating is bullet points under each job. You can tailor stuff within reason for every job application, bull**** your way through skills/software usage (which you can learn as you prepare). Obviously again within reason.

obviously this work for changing technical disciplines but you have to do some self learning tutorials to know what to talk about if asked

This. If your job can be obtained by sending resumes and having HR sloots filter them, it's not a very important job. Nobody would hire somebody they don't trust for a valuable position.

I used to have a couple of companies on my resume that didn't exist. Friends would be the "former owners" who were references. It was a lot easier twenty years ago.
