Sure. Religion has more purposes than just society building. It helps ppl from falling into nihilistic downfalls, gives them a sense of purpose and peace, sense of justice, helps ppl make sense of the world, etc.

Because religion isn't all about God most of the time. They were also tied into health practices and the law of the time. Before refrigeration, imagine eating pork that has been sitting out for a day or two. RIP in peace. Take Leviticus. It was pretty much just rules for Jews.

Eh, HIV didn't jump from apes to humans until the late 1950s so I'm not sure the Bible refers to AIDs when they say disease....and if it's referring to STDs then those can be mitigated up to 99% efficacy by using a condom, which the gays don't use which is why disease is synonymous with homosexuality. It's not the act of being gay its the activities they participate in.

I get your point but there is nowhere in the Bible that states sex should only be for procreation. The Catholic church openly teaches that sex is twofold - procreation and pleasure/intimacy between a married couple.

Also there is one sexual position verse in the Bible and one that may be a sexual position and they both just refer to husband lying in bed - not missionary or any other position.

It's not the Bible that says these things it was the various churches and their teachings and they do vary widely between denominations

From an objective perspective I think religious cultures/values are far better for society then non-religious ones.

The main problem with religion is they are so bastardized from the original concepts. I would argue there is nothing wrong with the concept of religion. There is something wrong with a large portion of people that claim to be a part of said religions.

This. Ancients weren't as stupid as people like to think. A lot of the religious law/rules had to do with general health.

I'd be willing to bet there were STD's and most likely infections from homo acts in those days.
