Why a McLaren? There's so many better options out there, with way less maintenance issues. The electrical problems in McLaren's alone make them a headache. I personally would have bought the brand new Corvette instead. (Ded fkn Srs)

It's not rocket science. Number of payments multiplied by payment amount less principle = interest, and yes it's over $28k.

You're effective rate is about 8.2%.

Now if you have cash and you can invest it at a higher interest rate than your loan, then financing makes sense. But 8% consistently over 72 months is a big hurdle.

And yes; 20+ years as a Corporate Financial Controller. CPA/CMA/MBA.

You dun goofed.

Those lol'ing at finance.

Finance isn't always a bad thing tbh.

If OP had the 200k in cash sitting there. Granted OP paying 28k interest. But if he used the 100k he didn't pay for the car (as he financed 100k) and earnt more than 28k off it over the term of the loan he's infront. Debt is not always a bad thing.

I agree, but see my post above. He'd need to earn a return of better than 8% consistently for 72 months to just break even.

I borrow money every year at an ultra-low interest rate an invest it in my RRSP (Canadian equivalent of a 401k) because with the tax benefit and earnings I more than cover the interest on the loan. It's called financial leverage.

But I don't see that here. OP is getting raped.

This. How the fukk does one aquire enough capital to drop $100k on a down payment and still have such fukked credit that the best rate they can get on the remainder is over 8%? JFL...

Financing isn't always a bad thing. Financing a depreciating asset at over 8% IS a bad thing...
