So Mexico is Afghanistan now? What asylum claim are leftists using?

I know folks from Syria who are super pissed at all these "Syrian asylum seekers" heading to Europe through the Balkans route. The vast majority are still from sub-Saharan Africa, and 'asylum claims' are entirely different from 'migration attempts'.

Little do leftists know that conflating the two makes it that much harder for legitimate asylum seekers to file a claim. And those folks I do think we should pay due attention to.

Thousands are accepted per year, but thousands also refused. I'm for taking asylum applications seriously, but economic migration != asylum, and therefore represents an illegality when crossing or reaching the border at all. Asylum is a (very) special case and should be treated as such.

I was also referring to the abuse we see in EU-relevant migrant routes. The vast majority of the Africans reaching the EU from Libya are not 'asylum' seekers, but rather illegal migrants. And the persecution they'd face in Libya is well documented before their journey starts. I wouldn't set foot in Libya without a detail armed to the teeth and even then not without the blessing of Haftar himself.
