200k and you have to work in either NYC or Los Angeles?

Both places are obviously trash tier but you have to work there, can choose to live out in the suburbs if you want.

What do you choose?
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

$200k is probably the same quality of life in both locations. In LA, you have better weather but are probably living in a chittier location. In NYC, weather is worse but you'll probably be happier because there's always so much happening and you don't need a car and the hassles that come along with car ownership.

It's actually kind of a tough call. I think in my 20s, I'd choose NYC because nightlife is better. But if I were 35+ and past the stage where I'm wanting to go out every weekend until 4AM, I'd probably choose LA and live in one of the little beach communities.

You can actually live in NYC for a surprisingly little amount of money if you want, which isn't really the case in LA unless you're willing to do absolutely nothing. I have a friend who only earns something like $60k, and he has a free place to stay which obviously helps a ton. But he goes out a few nights per week and lives it up pretty hard at the age of 36.

LA and this is not even close.

LA has the best weather in the world and you are driving distance to about 50 different destinations that are top tier to visit.

I live about 30 miles north of LA and honestly I never see a purple haired lefty ever. EVER.

Meanwhile I visited NYC 3 years ago and purposely paid $1000 extra just to take a flight out early....it was that depressing of a place.
Words to live by...."You're at the shopping mall with your girl but a hot chick walks by. Are you going to look at the hot girl? No. You use your peripheral vision."

200k and if you dislike the NYC that much you live in Hoboken. 20 min Path train ride.

Case closed

The walkability can’t be beat. I live in the upper west side and have a 15 min commute.

LA is fuking depressing unless you’re a movie star. BRB 2 hour commute stuck in five lane traffic.

LA still has semi affordable living and some safe places to live + godly weather.

NYC is a giant chithole. You’d probably get stabbed to death the first day after taking the job

In L.A. you can rent a studio apartment in Glendale, Burbank, or Temple City and save up enough in 3 years earning $200k to buy a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom single family house in a a place like Rancho Rancho Cucamonga 100% with Cash and have no mortgage.
To buy a comparable home in one of the 5 boroughs of New York City all cash, you'd literally have to live in a studio Apartment for 30 years and save.

Not only that, you can buy a cheap old 8 Ton Astronaut Proof Armor Plated Bullet Proof Car if you need a 2nd car for when you have to drive through NASA Headquarters.
