Rings of Power - have I got this right? (Spoilers)
Basically a tribe of people (Elves)
Part of the tribe splits off to form a new tribe (Uruk) to follow a new prophet (Morgot or whutevs)
-original group now considers the lost tribe (Uruk) to be a different race
-two tribes get into long running dispute about who is entitled to live in their ancestral lands
-third party (Numenor) at the request of Elves comes in to impose a solution on who should live in said lands
-tribes and their allies commit various atrocities to try and assert claim to land
Is that about right?

- Uruk is simply Orc in their language. Black speech.
- Adar (if he is to be believed) felt pity for his brothers and sisters getting tortured and experimented on By Sauron (servant of Morgoth), and because he actually cares about his kind (Orcs/Uruks) he decided to kill Sauron. However, what he doesn't know is that Sauron will just come back through another form. His body might have been split in two, but he's back and influencing things again.
- In the show, Sauron is most likely Halbrand. The "human" King who is getting close to Galadriel. He'll probably reveal himself at some point in the finale.
- The Uruks don't have a claim to the land, they're just a stolen people who were corrupted through the ages. They're "Evil".
- Numenor are only cleansing the lands for their own reasons, not for the Southlands.
- Tribes and allies commit many atrocities, including the genocide of Uruks.

Seems wrong that the elves are openly genociding the Uruks

It wasn't by choice. The Uruk were originally elves who were captured, enslaved, and twisted by Morgoth. Originally, some followed him as Melkor. Morgoth is basically an angel figure, like Satan. Elves vowing to wipe out the orcs is part of LOTR. But in LOTR, bloodline matters and orcs as a race are collectively evil. There weren't any good orcs in LOTR. Seems the show is making it more multidimensional.
Halbrand being Sauron is interesting. We'll know if he somehow helps Celebrimbor forge the rings. Perhaps they will give him the name Annatar. Halbrand does not behave like Sauron though. In fact the only person who seems remotely Sauron like is the bro that fell out of the sky. He's the only person with power to match Sauron's. And he hasn't been named yet. Perhaps he finds the elves, and they name him Annatar.
Also pay close attention to Pharazon. He will eventually defeat and capture Sauron only to be corrupted by his whispers. His plot arc will be epic and totally fuking metal. We're talking human sacrifices, raping his cousin, and laying siege to the heavens type chit bro. There will be an epic scene where God (Eru/Illuvatar) makes the world round so no men can ever sail to Valinor again.
Regarding Uruk claims to the land, if we are being more openminded, Morgoth feels Eru fuked up and ruined the world. He wants to make it better, like Satan did. He enslaved the orcs to this end, caring nothing for them. It seems Adar wants to lead the orcs to freedom. While he is brutal, he seems to genuinely care for his "children" in a strange way. He's probably been added to make the villain more sympathetic and interesting. Perhaps he will also fight Sauron and die a hero, somehow redeemed. Who knows?
It's a good story so far.
Halbrand will likely end up one of the wraiths, as will Theo perhaps. It makes perfect sense that the dude who fell out of the sky is Sauron. Nori senses the darkness in him. Everything he touches dies. His powers are destructive. He doesn't know who he is. But I bet he died and was sent back. Even Sauron and Morgoth play a part in Eru's song though they think they defy him. It is possible Eru sent him back since it is his will to create the struggle (lol).
Maybe this also explains why Sauron largely ignored hobbits. Maybe part of him remembered Nori's kindness...

The only ring of power I'm aware of is a cock ring that you wear on your cawk and balls. It has copper and zinc elements. Works like a battery on your balls.

Gladrial and Halbrand are the leaders (father and mother) of the Elfs and Men respectively. They have been around for a long time and so has Sauron. Sauron is the father of the orcs. The orcs want the same land that the men and elfs do so they fight.
Spoiler!
At the end of the last episode when Sauron blew up the mountain, it killed the town but Gladrial did not die. I don’t think it killed Halbrand. So it is basically settings up the rulers of the elf’s and men to face off again the father of the orcs.

i didn't care too much about the characters (other than elf/dwarf dynamic) but each episode is better than the last imo. the most recent one was actually great.

This being the only plausible cause and with him meeting the Harfoots initially is a good explanation as to why he has such a storied history with the Hobbits (descendants of Harfoots?) If the scene where he spoke to the fireflies wasn't tell tale enough, then IDK what to tell you......just like when he speaks to creatures in LOTR.95% sure it’s Gandalf.
