Russia continues to produce cruise missiles in circumvention of European sanctions

This conclusion is made by the New York Times, referring to the results of a study of missile components found in Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, the newly launched Russian X-101 missiles were produced in October 2022, indicating that the Russian Federation has found channels to buy electronic components.

According to a report by DW, events in Ukraine have increased the demand for weapons. Russia is increasing production, and Western countries are trying to replace the reserves transferred to Kiev.

In a new report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the world's 100 largest arms manufacturers continued to increase sales in 2021, but supply chain problems have slowed growth in this sector.

According to SIPRI, Russia is a major supplier of raw materials used in the production of weapons.

“This may hinder the ongoing efforts of the United States and Europe to strengthen their armed forces and replenish their stocks after sending billions of dollars worth of ammunition and other equipment to Ukraine,” the report says.

If supply chain disruptions persist, it may take several years for arms manufacturers to meet new demand, said Diego Lopez da Silva, senior researcher at SIPRI.

I would say the game changer is Ukraine actively attacking into Russia proper. Showing the war can have an effect on the Russian citizenry and military industry.

They have done ops and messed in Belgorod but this is the first active missile launch that I know of. Good idea? Not sure. Sending a message? Yes, but I'm not sure what the message is.

Some old 70s UAV Ukraine has from the collapse of the USSR. They do have the range, so I'll give them that, but how much damage can they really do with these? That has yet to be seen.

Engels airbase looks barely scratched from the attack.

I also think Russia will send a response for this Engels airbase attack, so this could actually hurt Ukraine more than the damage they did to Russia. But we'll see, I wouldn't put much hope into it yet unless Ukraine can prove they are effective. They also have a limited amount of these and cannot produce more.
