Movie theaters are outdated and gaye

Just got back from watching the new avatar. The last time I’ve been to a theater prior to this was probably a year ago.

I would rather watch a movie on my 4k QD OLED with a sound bar any day of the week over watching anything in a chitty movie theater.

The resolution in 2022 still sucks ass
The contrast ratio is 15 years past it’s prime
Loud people talking and laughing at the dumbest scenes and paying $30 for a large popcorn, bag of skittles and 3 drinks.

Who honestly enjoys going to the theater these days when modern tv’s give an astronomically better picture at a fraction of the cost?

I dunno I think the movie theater experience is a good novelty to have. The main problem is theaters need to step up their security game and do something about all the sacks of garbage playing with their phones and having conversations during the movie. I didn't pay $19 a ticket to have some dickhead check his ******** feed right ****ing next to me during a pivotal scene

fuk i remember the days where youd call a brah or two and just go catch a flick on a saturday night and eat at a diner after. these days aint bad, but those were the good ol days.

I love movie theaters, the best way to watch movies.

If only they played movies I wanted to watch.

Hopefully we get more revival theaters popping up so they can play old movies that I want to see.

Digital projection has significantly improved the quality/consistency of movie theaters. Back in the 35mm days you'd get flickering bulbs, scratched up prints, bad framing, etc. Legit you had to be a trained "union projectionist" that required actual skill and quality equipment to present the film properly. However even with digital the minimum wagies manage to screw it up. I saw Top Gun Maverick twice and the 2nd showing they messed up the framing (cropped off top and bottom) and the audio levels were way too high, like practically blowing out the speakers just in dialogue scenes. I complained and the person legit got angry at me and didn't fix it. This was at a dolby cinema that charged $20+ per ticket. Really like watching big movies with a semi filled audience but honestly watching at home on big screen is a better experience, usually.
**Eat lots and lots of birds. The smaller the bird, the more compact its protein content. Parrots are great sources for protein.**

Agreed brah. It's a dying industry. Drove the local movie theater and it's a fukkin ghost town.

Brb having sloots over to watch movies on my 75" tv. Why the fook would i drive to fukkin theater pay $$ for junk food and candy and sit in a fukkin chair when i can be laying on my $2000 sofa

Plus many unaware of how to watch new movies luckily

VIP theatres are worth the extra $$$ just for the fact that paying extra money means you're more likely to get people who want to enjoy the movie and not be dikkheads, plus no kids. Movie theatres are partially about the social aspect too

If movie theatres are outdated, I've seen a few actual physical plays/shows this year -- legit just got back from the Christmas Carol

Seen too many movies screwed up by a bad 35mm presentation. Generally if you go to a decent chain, like Regal or AMC, the newer digital projectors have much more reliable quality. Additionally, you can see a movie 4 weeks into its run and it looks the same as day 1, whereas on film by 4 weeks in the print was scratched up. There was a time about 10-15 yrs ago where digital projectors sucked, but the newer ones particular the laser projectors, have very good quality surpassing even the best home systems.

I went to the movies every weekend for years. I loved all kinds of different movies and would even go to NYC to see unusual movies. Now, I don't go to the movies at all.

They aren't worth it and my TV is way better than the screens in a theater.

I have a very large TV and sit about five feet away in a reclining couch, and I can pause the TV to use the bathroom.

Also, movie choices are not great and haven't been for about a decade.

I used to go to the art theater in Philly and watch french and german movies, which are great but they don't play in Philly anymore, so I am not going.

I just don't care to pay money to watch a dvd/bluray at the movie theater. I want to watch movies on film, images flickering through a light bulb at 24 frames a second, otherwise there's less allure to go to the theater.

When you talk about digital vs film, you're talking about different art forms. Making a movie on digital is for the lazy filmmaker who can just capture an approximation of what they want then fix it in post by twisting some knobs and pushing some buttons of a computer.

The art of filmmaking is about capturing in camera what you want the audience to see in the theater.

The artistry just isn't there anymore but for the select few that still shoot on film.

Digital is easy, digital is lazy, digital is cheap.

Go to a better theater, and if that is your towns "good" theater, go at a different time of day when there aren't a bunch of chit-head kids.

For example, i'm in San Deigo so I have a couple dozen theaters to choose from in a 30 mile radius I can go to the theater that serves alcohol and has waiters that bring food to your seat like the AMC theater in Del Mar....or...I can go to the chitt regal theater downtown where all the rowdy SDSU kids go.

The theatre I was at has avx, Dolby atmos, reclining chairs, orderable food and has vip screenings etc. You don’t get any better than that. It’s top of the line for sure

I live by several of these in Philly and I have never gone.

No matter what is going on, it's not worth the price.

I was tempted to go for the recent Batman movie, but that ended very fast and was replaced by that last Sandra Bullock adventure romance movie, lol.

I do not need fog and moving chairs in a Sandra Bullock film.

Meanwhile, my gf and I watched it at home, and had some laughs.

I spent 5 bucks.

Well i usually am in a big city when i go to the movies, so i have an assortment of different theaters to choose from. Some are higher quality than others based on them being in the nicer part of town where poorcels don’t go.

I like the “luxury theatres” where they serve you drinks and food during the movie.

If you live in a poverty town whose movie theater hasn’t had an upgrade in 30 years and have a bunch of loser small towners running the place what do you expect?

I prefer home viewing but I have a proper dolby atmos audio setup with an oled tv.
