There is a 135,000 barrel per day petrochemical refinery 3 miles from my house. It produces diesel and jet fuel. Hard to fight a war without those 2 fuels.

It's either all or effectively nothing when it come to nukes.

If we are talking tactical and Russia is the initial aggressor, they hit a largely unpopulated strategic target or assaulting front(say M1 Abram tank battalion in E Ukraine). US or allies answer with a tach nuke to infrastructure in a Russian controlled city or border area away from what Russia considers "home." It would have to be void of civilians.

Then the war is either over and negotiations start or it goes full nuke.

If full nuke after tactical exchange or at the onset, it's over for basically everyone who lives in the civilized world.

I think we will be fairly safe in the US. Kinzhal missles only have 2000 kilometer range, granted I guess they could always be launched from sub or aircraft parked of the coast. Even then, parts of the US would be out of range. A sub 100 kilometers off the oregon coast could hit western nebraska, no further.

Avangard their hypersonic glide vehicle, Russia only has 8, each being capable(supposedly) of delivering 6 800KT nukes. So theoretically in a first strike scenario they could use these to hit 48 targets, world wide. I'm sure they would send multiple at high priorty targets. Our defenses might even intercept a few
