Boomers are upset we aren’t corporate cucks like them

Boomer executives are bewildered by the younger generations’ unwillingness to continue accepting constant abuse by the corpocracy:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ent-booms.html
Americans are refusing to work weekends and are demanding pay raises en masse – emboldened by empowering self-help videos on TikTok and time spent at home during the pandemic.

The revelations, aired in a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, depict a rapidly changing corporate climate where staffers are more actively drawing a line between their work and personal lives.

With the pandemic serving as a catalyst, staffers at respected firms where extreme hours have been the norm are now demanding increased pay when asked to increase their workloads.

Accounts collected from white-collar workers from all age groups illustrate this waning ambition, as well as staffers’ reordered priorities over the past three years.

Some firms fed-up of staffers’ demands say they’ve begun outsourcing roles to India and Canada as a result, raising the specter of a jobs crisis should the long-predicted recession be a deep one.
As usual, the corpocracy’s reaction is to address a crisis by doubling down. One of the primary reasons employees are unwilling to work any harder than is absolutely necessary is because over the last 30 years, they have learned their employers have zero loyalty to them and will outsource their jobs and hand them to foreigners if the employers can save five cents an hour.

There isn’t a single firm that has “begun” outsourcing jobs to India, Canada, or anywhere else in response to this, because they’ve all been outsourcing for years, if not decades, already. This is perfectly rational behavior that is frankly long overdue. Generation X started the trend by opting out of the traditional career path after seeing how our advancement was blocked by Boomers – I haven’t worked in a corporate office for 32 years – but the Zoomers are taking it to the next level in this as in so many other things.

Remember, corporations are not capitalism. Corporations are state entities that primarily exist to protect the executive class from the consequences of its decisions and live large at the expense of the shareholders and employees, as well as to fence off intellectual property from individuals and the public domain. As such, they are amoral at best and evil on average, which is why anything that reduces their power or legal standing is desirable.

Not a boomer but part of the over 35 crew…not mad about people not taking abuse, I’m mad about terribly incompetent so many people seem to be now. Service everywhere all across the board is worse than ever and declining by the year. There is some truth to negatives of corporate America, but there is also some truth about todays generation being more potato than ever.

For sure service is non existent everywhere

I was at the shops not too long ago and the card service was down, I paid in cash
It was something like $43.90, I paid with a 50$ the cashier couldn’t figure out how much to give back

Where do they say unpaid overtime?

It looks like a bunch of people that:

A: Dont want to do their job
B: Dont want to put in any extra effort
C: Want to focus on a inst lifestyle and work less for more "me" time
D: The same group of people that will complain about boomers having it easy.

Not a boomer (thank god) but old nonetheless. Not rode hard put away wet old like Rich, but old regardless.

As a C-suiter it does boggle my mind that young folks put in their 8 hours or whatever and GTFO. I am a C-suiter now because I took the time when I was young to help my bosses with projects, learn new things about the business, and just made myself overall valuable and someone they knew to keep on eye on for advancement.

Young people are just lazy imho.

Bazzilie hit the nail on the head.

I'm a DM with a company ive been with for 20+ years. I've gotten promotions and raises by doing the same...asking for projects, working over when asked, making good decisions etc... Then, when an employee of mine comes to my house for an errand and sees my house, my neighborhood, boat, toys etc...I get the old "must be nice" from kids who call out every monday after a hard weekend and wonder why they aren't getting anywhere or getting noticed.

Make fun of boomers all you want but there will never be another group of dedicated, hard working folks like them, and the shortly after (me), again.

Yeah I’d say today’s generation of workforce as a whole is the weakest. They think everything should be easy, and that they should be able to just do the bare minimum and have things maintain the current level. All of the sh!t around us happened because of tons of hard work. And it takes work to keep things going. So when millions of people cry about how hard things are and just stop participating we shouldn’t be surprised to see supply chain issues and other problems.

It's simple. You push young adults into unpayable or daunting amounts of debt, allow boomers to gut the nation by printing money into oblivion, raise cost of living at a much faster pace than salaries at these corporations, and then are expected to work hard in an environment that treats them like unnecessary waste.

The fact none of the older generations can see this is shocking. They don't have the mental capacity to understand that todays world is so far removed from anything they think it is. The world when I was in college was a completely different world than today. It's almost shocking.

Imagine these kids following the same exact work plan that has been pushed on my generation. College has gone up about 63% in price from when I graduated. That's 6.3% year over year. Have salaries raised at a similar pace? Now include inflation via general cost of living. Phone, car, rent, utilities, medical, groceries/food, housing etc. The entry level jobs from when I graduated pay about the same as it does today.

What is the incentive? There is none. It's a losing game that is so obvious financially that it is inherently meaningless. What boomers don't realize is that while they rejoice their homes went from 70k to 400k and they wonder why their children aren't in the same position as them financially, the young generation they're criticizing are the ones that can't get ahead because of their greed. "But but but INVESTMENT!"

This society is corrupting and morally bankrupt. There's a reason religion says usury/riba is a sin. It guts the society from within and puts financial gain as a more imperative goal that things with meaning like family togetherness, gratitude, and love.

The Problem is the newer generations don't have the something to build or strive towards.

No sense of purpose when the only thing you've explored is a fantasy world

Bingo.

Blaming it on "kids being lazy" is laughable. People respond to incentives. Remove them and people are just going to say **** it. It's as simple as that.
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

It's a show-n-tell world my friend. Problem is, kids today want what 30+ yr veterans have without putting in the effort or initiative; they want it now. Show me you're worth more, make good working decisions, show me initiative, show me loyalty and not jumping job to job for a quarter.

i cringe in the construction industry. im not around this at all. these guys have misplaced pride

my other union felt much more plush. the IBEW right now, where i am, feels like the contractors are totally in control and everyone is sucking the teet of them. digging trenches in 115 degree heat and fighting for cold water, while the contractor pays bare minimum

but most of the workers im around feel obligated to do that chit. and with a smile on their face. sometimes i will, but other times im not so subservient

i guess what im saying is.. in the industry im in there seems to be more than enough people willing to oblige them

Yea nothing like working your entry level 45k wagie job getting taxed down to 36k net (where I live), then pay 1.4k rent and utilities, grocery costs, phone bill, gas every week, car and health insurance, a social life in any meaningful way. You can't do it on that salary. If you stay at home to save on rent, then you're called worthless and pathetic by the same generations complaining about the youth.

I didn't even mention the student loan payments. The average is 38k which is more than their yearly salary for entry level averaging what...5-6% interest rate?

It's a financial black hole and people realize the end game now. Lol at working like a cuck for these companies that give fuk all about you just to barely scrape by in society.

I hear what you're saying man, I do, and I agree with you. I have 2 boys, 23 and 26, and I worry about them every day. Luckily, they have my drive and smarts and they should come out of this ok. Both have 4 yr degrees and 1 is going back to school for radiology; he wants to improve himself. So when I see my kids do it, makes me wonder why can't others.
The other half of this is kids need to find companies who they trust, believe in their uppers; find companies who have shown they promote from within, be patient and work for it.

This, they want the perks, they want the salary, they want the autonomy, but they don't want to put in the work to build the foundation necessary.

You have two options, complain, or use that mental capacity that you claim boomers don't have to better your situation. Which are you gonna choose?

The other half of this is kids need to find companies who they trust, believe in their uppers; find companies who have shown they promote from within, be patient and work for it.

That's the issue though. Even the hard working kids are being punished. Money isn't a powerful incentive over time for most people. It is becoming more worthless, and basic life is becoming more expensive without salaries reflecting that.

So kids now have to spend the same amount of time working their way up, but receiving much less buying power and incurring much more debt (student loans/mortgage/car). It's a losing game most most people now. There is no real middles class like before.

It's the oversight of the older generations that bother me the most. Imagine being smitten with greed over selling your house for way above a normal asking price and wonder why younger generations are struggling. They're being greedy while also complaining about why the younger generations aren't doing well financially. It's absurd when you think about it. I have to a buy a 30 year old small house from a boomer now for 400k that they bought for 70k? Let's compare the buying power of salaries between a boomer my age vs. today.

It's a financial black hole and people realize the end game now. Lol at working like a cuck for these companies that give fuk all about you just to barely scrape by in society.
Lol at making 36k (after taxes) and spending 1.4k in fukking rent and complaining about the system. Get a roommate or two or find a more accommodating rental situation. If you're in an entry level position you're meant to make sacrifices until you earn.

Honestly the issue is that everyone thinks they can just exist and have every single thing that they see people on tik tok or people that have WORKED to get there have. This just in, not every single person can have every luxury, you need to put in the work.

I've got this little entitled **** at my job with his 3 years experience under his belt acting like because he took the time to read some sections of the building code that are readily available it means his engineering is perfect. He doesn't/won't take the time to just bear down and listen to the fukkin guys with 10-15-20+ years of experience that hey, slow it down kiddo you're not perfect.

Listen main, if you stayed for 6 years, getting cucked year after year, that's on you. I had that happen to me at a job 18 months in, I immediately started looking for a new job, in 3 months I had a much better title and literally doubled my salary.
That's not an argument. You're personalizing a generational and nationwide argument. Please tell me you aren't this retarded. srs.

They'll figure out supply and demand eventually.

Also the fact that young people have nothing to work for nowadays due to women not being property of their husbands anymore and nobody having families. Younger people just don't need the money that badly.

The boomers looted and ruined the business world for their own personal gain. This mess that we are dealing with is the result of their comfort being prioritized above all else.

I work in sales we don’t have these problems, actually reward people for working hard and they will.

An mp in my country said nurses shouldn’t be striking because 36k is plenty to live on then used his staffer as an example, living in a fking shared house with a degree barely scraping by.

Then wonder why these people don’t work as hard as people use to when people on the level they are at now could have kids and raise family’s on that one wage.

That's why you bust your ass when you're young, gain skils, show your value, and move up. Do you just expect the Millennial fairy to magically make you more valuable to a company? Or for the company to just start paying you more out of the goodness of their heart?

I started my professional career making $12/hr, which even back in '93 wasn't great for a professional job. I still worked extra, weekends, basically made myself valuable to the company and over the next ten years I was promoted 3x into a director role where I crossed six figures. That was 20 years ago and I kept the work effort up, still made myself valuable, and gained exposure to new work and skills. I now make multiples of what I did 20 years ago and it has nothing to do with luck or privilege or anything other than working hard and selling myself to the organization. Even though I switched jobs in the mid-10's I took the same perspective to the new company and all the extra work I'd been exposed to over the preceding 30 years got me the job.

There's no substitute for hard work boyos. And expecting instant gratification kind of flies in the face of what we all experience lifting. We know that lifting is something you put the work in now to reap the benefits later. Take this same attitude to your job.
