Come on bros, lets help each other out

Been using AI for my social media business posts, marketing, ideas, search engine optimization, and even used dalle to help design a logo (i took the idea and made it sexy in photoshop)

I used it to write the code for an arduino welding rotary table, with a LCD rpm display, variable speed and foot controls.

Tonight i used it to help create some excel sheets

I am in utter disbelief by the productivity this stuff helps with

Mostly chits and giggles stuff... creativity oriented particularly (write a song or story with X Y Z criterias).

But I've tested it and am convinced it can help with:

- Writing Powershell scripts to do the needful
- Producing regular expressions (regex)

There's a couple of other productivity things I've seen it can do but it had problems with either the way I phrased the question, or might not be able to do what I want in general (needs more testing and figuring out how to word my questions).

Yep looking at these as well. Noticed a couple addins for VSCode, CodeGPT that can write code from comments and vise versa, kind of cool. Needs a paid ai account is only downside.

It's quite incredible, but it often crashes on me, like it's got a prescribed limit of questions per hour or something.


I've been using it for fantasy and science fiction story ideas, lyrics and names for power and 80s hair metal songs (which I'll use once I get a new guitar, it writes great lyrics), and for asking it ideas about my thesis.


For the latter, it's a phenomenal help with my thesis since I ask it about the originality and strength of my thesis ideas and it gives very articulate explanations. Then I ask it for recommendations on papers and books to follow up with and it comes back with a list.


It's a godsend since the worst part of doing a research degree is knowing whether you're actually producing good and original ideas at all, and where to go next. It really takes a lot of the directionlessness and ambiguity out of the affair in that regard.


Although, I'm writing its responses into my thesis since I'm in the final edits/cleanup stage, but I'm not sure if this is plagiarism. Some would say plagiarism is presenting the work of another as your own, but is an AI program "another" and is it doing work?

IMO it's not plagiarism since you can literally ask the same question 10 times in a row and get different answers every time (unless your question is something with an exact answer like a math problem, true/false statement, etc.). Nonetheless it's probably a good idea to reword or paraphrase, as anyone would when they'd even think about plagiarism in the first place - just to add a little personal character and human error. It's worth noting that because the data is limited to 2021 and older, anything that you might need to write on involving data from 2022/2023 should come from your own research and words anyway.

It's pretty ****ing shocking how good it is. I can't imagine the work that went into making this, and everyone is hearing about it now.


What's even crazier is I feel like we've turned a corner. Top companies are now racing to out-do ChatGPT. I can't imagine the stuff that will be available in 5-10 years.


I honestly think things are starting to get real now. The changed most of us just dreamed about is... it's actually just about here lol. The world will be different, very soon.

youre exposing yourself as low IQ not realizing the productivity this software can help with... i made a excel spread sheet that would have taken 10 minutes in 1 minute with a very descriptive prompt

why the hell would i do mundane tasks like make spread sheets or spend hours with creativity block coming up with persuasive marketing. ****, it can often give a great base that you just tweak slightly

I never learned to code, genuinely how long would it take to learn how to do what i described? Months? Well it took 2 min, since outsourcing small things like that could be cost prohibitive this stops me from wasting time learning to code for a semi hobby project

Notice that I didn't say I used it to copy/pasta an entire thesis. I asked it questions about my own ideas to see if they were original and substantive enough to be good PhD work. Or ask it about how I would work out an angle of an argument I'm thinking of. Then I work that material into sections of the thesis.


Since I had the first draft of the thesis written before Chat GPT appeared, it's not like I used it to vomit up an entire thesis.

I was trying it out to see if it could write some cool short horror stories. It basically does a good job of writing basic and generic horror stories. Nothing outstanding. No twists. Just nothing impressive. There are people who make a living writing short horror stories for youtube channels for instance. For the basic and not too creative writers, this basically makes them obsolete. But for writers who have imagination and skills, this tech is not that impressive. Yet.

I haven’t yet used chatgpt or other AI, can you show some examples of how you used it or how it made you excel sheets?
