I'm actually pro-choice, up to about 20ish weeks, but the only thing the right lost here was the framing of this issue, that somehow any common sense regulation is seen as far-right insanity by most people in this country.

She isn't wrong. Politicians and political heavy groups get people revved up about abortion rights. It's one of those things that's like trying to put Pandora back in the box. Especially with hookup apps and people's fear of HIV being almost nil nowadays, and thus condoms are relatively passe. I can only assume Republican strategists have gotten too cocky about Democrats fuking up so many things that they feel like they could move on abortion hard and quickly. It's looking like that was a mistake and it will bite them in the ass for a long time.

I have zero issues with abortion before 8 weeks or so but could be convinced up to 12 weeks or so.

The religious types pushing near total bans on abortion as a primary campaign issue is a problem.It isn't that it is unpopular. It is that the people that care the most are religious and the 4th trimester types...

However, it is the right going for the ban and they are going too far. If the left was trying to make legal week 40 abortions they would lose most areas as well.

The youngest baby born that survived, I think was 20 weeks? Anything after that is murdering a viable human life. Thats fact that can not be argued. Trump was the only Republican with the balls to point out the problem and DO something about it. Even in the mid-west there is still a mixture of "No Abortion Ever", Plan B is fine, Heart Beat, Brain Development, Independent Survivability, Life of Mother, and "My body my choice till birth".

It is the fundamental issue. Those that believe it is a baby at conception can't negotiate with the heart beat crowd because to them it is still supporting murder.

As a result they don't have a big enough base even in fairly conservative states.

In a perfect world, abortions are saved only for rape/incest and people have kids only when they can sustain them. I'm 50/50 on this because it's a toss up between maintaining a strong culture of being anti-abortion, or taking a strategic approach where liberals frequently abort their kids while republicans have multiple kids, lol.
