Just replaced my cleats / pedal baseplates. Hnnnnng. I always wait until the cleats are completely worn out - I really should replace more often. Then I realized that I need a new bottom bracket - for some reason I can’t get more than ~2500 miles out of them.

Windy asf here too. I don’t mind, just find a gear that keeps that cadence up. Got crazy windburn this past weekend.

2500 miles doesn't seem horrible. Do you use a pressure washer on your bike? Or even a basic garden hose to blast it?

I have killed some BB's with indiscriminate power washing.

Never - Im a total ****git that has ceramic coated the bike and only wipe down with moist microfiber - bike looks showroom new. It's a road bike - I do ride in the winter and I think the salt is what does it even though I don't ride when it's wet.

It's a minimal expense, I just feel like I change them way more than I should.My first track bike was 753 steel. It's very nice to ride those old frames, but on the track they flex in the most unpredictable manner. Not when you are putting power in, but if you are putting significant power and hit a bump or an undulation they will 'buck," which sucks when you are in the middle of a pack. You can pedal through it, but very unsettling the first few times it happens. I can appreciate steel & the attraction to vintage bikes, but my preference is for Aluminum with Ultegra groupset.

I had a pair of Schwalbe Lugano's. Really liked them, rear tire had a complete structural failure (I felt bump bump, which made me slow down and then the sidewall lost all integrity and the tube sounded like a shotgun). Bike shop blamed it on having the tire on a fluid trainer causing a delimitation of the wall. Regardless, I run a GatorSkin GP 5000 Black Chili rear and still rocking the Schwalbe upfront. It is a confidence inspiring tire. I really like the combo.

Riding is great. Mentally, I feel so much better after a ride. My legs look athletic asf in shorts, I have plenty of stamina to keep my wife happy. What more could you want in a hobby?

Easter Sunday morning! Great day to go road riding. No cars anywhere.

My mountain bike has been set up single speed for a long time. I want to start pedaling to the trails, but using a single mountain gear ratio is absolute misery on the road. I have a 11-36 10 speed cassette; I just need to buy a shifter and I'll be good to go.

My mountain bike has become such a hodge-podge of old parts. I have a SRAM front brake, a Shimano rear brake, silver spokes in back, black spokes in front, grips are very old with no bar ends, pins are missing from the pedals, the seat rails are bent. I did a very amateur paint job on it recently; I'd grade my work a 5/10 LOL. The more "bootleg" the bike becomes, the more I like it.LMAO.

I love Sam Pilgrim. He's the only MTB youtuber I watch consistently.

still havent gotten back on a road bike after getting hit by a car last year. Hopefully sometime in the next couple months

Try a gravel bike, or mountain bike. Get off the road for a while. I rarely do "road" cycling, but I'll take my 25mm gatorskins on the gravel path, or canal sidewalk for 30+ miles.

Pure road is for Saturday or Sunday 5am riding when NO ONE is on the road.

Any try an oval chain ring on their bike? I have one on order to put on my switchblade. I figured why not? My buddy can get it to me at cost so I figured it isn't really to much of a waste of money.

I had one for a while. Feels weird at first - the same gear ratio will feel like it's 1 click easier than with a round chainring.

I cannot find a STEEL oval chainring anywhere. I cracked my aluminum one on a rock within 4 months, and went back to my steel round chainring.

I would continue to use the oval, because there is a little added benefit, but I need steel.

Interesting... I guess I will have just see how it goes.

It definitely helps with traction on hard climbing.

When I switched back to the round ring, my rear tire would actually break traction under hard climbing. I was able to quickly re-adjust but yeah totally noticeable

Got my first ever 'nice' road bike this spring upgrading from the $200 used hybrid commuter I previously had - a entry level Specialized Roubaix. Already having a ton of fun with it, and can really gun it when trying but still learning the basics.

Would love to do a Sprint Triathlon this year

That is what I hear and I am really just curious to see the difference. And at the same time it is a fairly cheap upgrade thanks to my buddy.

Thinking of buying an ebike... I want to get a folder so I can share it (no sizing) and also travel with it easily.

The new LECTRIC folder looks good for under $1500 with the larger capacity battery.

Living in Arizona, I think this would be a riot to scoot around our pedestrian canal paths. The weather here is always dry/nice so I might even entertain the idea of using to commute a tiny bit.

I don't really want to use it for any sporting style riding, but I can see myself thrashing it on local singletrack for the lulz.

They are fun - Had a badass Trek Mountain e-Bike last time in Napa. It was sick. In a place like that, it is awesome to use the trail and be able to hop on the road when needed. I cried when I gave it back.

I want to take it san diego, or flagstaff, or colorado brah. Also, I have a mountain bike, so the use of this basic ebike is very much leisure.

Understand. I can see scooting around with my kids on vacay with that bike to get ice cream / go to the beach.

I know you're into MTB. That e-mountain bike really opens up the world to you. Guy that loaned it to me is serious about downhill / park riding and he uses it to explore new downhills in remote areas, or ride up when there are no lifts active - it allows him to get significantly more runs in per day. It allows you to leave it all out there and coast back in on easy mode. It's nice in traffic to get up to speed after stoplights. Honestly it's just fun being on a super agile motorcycle. I think you'll really like it.

My riding buddy just got his S-Works bike stolen during a ******** Marketplace transaction. Dude shows up, dressed well, didnt give any reason to suspect the guy was shady. Rode the bike up and down the street a few times and then he took off and never came back. Cops were worthless - filed a report and told him to take it up with his homeowners insurance.

I've had incredible luck selling my stuff on pinkbike. No issues, complaints, weirdos, etc. You have to deal with shipping, and PayPal fees, but so far, no shady phaggots

I sold my SC Bronson because it was just WAY too much bike for my pedaly trails. The VPP system is so efficient that it feels smoother than the fork - no matter how you tune it

Get an indoor bike trainer.

If you ride 10 miles indoors, it will be 10 miles of YOU vs pedaling a little outside and then coasting

In Phoenix you need to ride dirt in order to climb.... Otherwise it's just a lot of flat roads.
