I've spent time in Iceland and Greenland for work, probably headed back to Greenland this summer.

They are epic landscapes, but absurdly expensive compared to traveling just about anywhere else on earth. And once you are past the views there really isnt that much to do.

If you need to see Iceland take an Iceland Air polar route flight that gives you a 1-2 day layover travelling to Europe or something like that, spend a day or two on an organized tour and then bail.

Booked a week in Vegas in October, planning to go to Twitchcon while there. 7 days of drinking and gambling, first real vacation in 8 years.

Flights look like 1200 round trip, and 250-300 a night for a hotel.

Still seems like a better deal than going to argentina near the south pole. You have to take a cruise and thats 10-20k. Plus iceland is prob safer as well. But south america is absolutely beautiful. Have a friend in south brazil send me pics and its mindblowing.

Iceland air lets you have a 1-2 day layover in Iceland for no additional fees, so tacking it on to a trip to Europe for the cost of a couple nights accommodations is the cheapest way to see it. But it only works if you are planning a trip to Europe I suppose.

Anything polar is going to be exceptionally expensive and pretty spartan relative to cost, its nature of the beast. If you want to see the landscape 70-80 degrees north or south as a destination, easiest way is probably flying to Inuvik, renting a truck, and driving Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk on the ITH.

We had a great one recently a bit northwest of Orlando. Great resort, then moved to a 'tiny house' community on a lake and had fun.

Wife is now 30 weeks pregnant, so we'll probably do a long weekend in DC soon. But she wants to do Yosemite "shortly" after the baby is born. We love the parks in this country, srs, and have done Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Sequoia, Joshua Tree etc. HNNNNGH.

This year we’re just going to stay a week down in San Diego. Do the family thing with Sea World, Zoo, Balboa Park, beach. Maybe do Knott’s Berry Farm the day after we get back home. Next year we’re planning to go to Hawaii again.

Gf and I did Disney world last year. It was pretty fun.

Deciding if we want to take another big vacation this summer or just plan some smaller stuff like camping trips or weekend trips.

Personally I want to go somewhere tropical and get drunk on a beach for a week and eat seafood

I live in Alaska, so no other place I'd rather be in the summer / fall months. Will be spending as much time as possible fishing / hunting in Prince William Sound (shrimp and black bear just opened up), and being outside as much as possible on our lake.

This last year was November deer hunting on Kodiak Island, Cabo in December, Barcelona-Paris-Rome trip in January, and San Pedro in March.

This year will be San Diego when my son graduates USMC Boot Camp in November, San Pedro again in December, and then the Portuguese coast in March. Will probably do Mexico again January / February as well, but probably Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo since been going to Cabo and Cancun more lately and want something different.

Theres Black sand (volcanic) beaches in greece which are probably much more pleasant for actually swimming/haning on the beach.

Leaving for Italy on the 17th. 3 nights in Venice, flornece, rome & naples each respectively. Then back home.
Are you not entertained?

Sounds like an awesome trip, enjoy!

Visited Rome for almost a week in January, and was blown away by it. Cant wait to go back and explore more of Italy.
