Now, what is a criminal trial? It is a search for the truth. People will come in and testify. A jury of unbiased people will hear all the evidence and make a decision as to whether or not the guy committed a crime. This is our system. And it typically works. But you all want to avoid the normal process for your own personal reasons. Let the process happen. The truth will come out.

If the other passengers testify that that mulignon told people he was going to harm them, took actions that they, and the marine, believed would lead to injury or worse, then certainly the guy was justified in going hands on. None of us know, though. We haven't this information.

The other component is whether or not the marine needed to maintain the hold as long as he did. Even in self defense, when the other person no longer presents a threat, you are obligated to back off. If someone has a gun and you shoot him, we'll assume that part is justified, and he tosses that gun and puts his hands up, you cannot keep shooting him. The threat has been neutralized. So, that needs to be figured out at as well, and that happens during a trial.

Right now, my guess, the black kid had a history, I read somewhere on that day he seemed to be having trouble, I do not think the marine was trying to kill him based on him putting him in the recovery position after he finally went out. What I lack is any context on what happened prior to the marine putting the kid in the chokehold, if there was anything going on that would justify that level of force - force which might not have been intended to be lethal but ultimately was.

So, the kid spitting words wouldn't be enough for me. He'd have needed to be violent or a threat in some way to warrant using the level of force that was applied.

However, if the kid was a threat, at that point it's on him. You make yourself a threat, even a milder one justifying a less lethal chokehold and not necessarily demanding lethal force, but you put yourself in a position that harm might come to you in defense against you.

I'm not 'outraged' or angry charges were filed, I'm concerned. Concerned it was politically motivated, that maybe someone put a call in and the DNC are looking for 2024's #BLM rallying moment and not concerned in the least about this marine or justice. Hopefully this is not the case, hopefully if/when it goes to trial the truth is out, hopefully the media covers it responsibly and hopefully there is justice.

I think it seems clear he was not qualified to do that hold, which kind of makes things to me that the black guy would have needed to have been even more of a threat/danger to justify it's use.
